Team Fortress 2 - hl2.exe has stopped working. How to fix?

The latest update of Team Fortress 2 came with a major bug that some people on the forums managed to fix. Go to your Team Fortress 2 folder. It should be under Steam -> SteamApps -> <username> -> team fortress 2. Then delete the bin file (or rename it in case you need a backup). The game will create a new bin folder once you start the game.
