Does anyone know if Walmart can fire me or write me up for calling off on a holiday?

It would not look good. You will just not be dependable. They may talk to you about it because they would be short on staffs. Why can't you just request for day off? If you call in sick, it is possible they may ask for doctor note to prove that you were really sick.

Sure they can discipline you for calling off, holiday or not - and they can fire you and very possibly will.

No, not if they can't prove you weren't sick, but you will piss off all the people who are stuck working that holiday and are now one person short on a day that is usually really busy anyhow.
