the alternator is there to recharge the battery. the starter is a self explanatory item. as i mentioned, yesterday, on some gm vehicles, the charging system sends power back through to the battery through the positive battery cable that is found on the starter. that is why one of the three wires goes from the starter back to the alternator.

the alternator gives power back to the battery.
I'm sure in your infinite wisdom you can find a wiring diagram or better yet, ask the store where you bought the starter from. I'm sure they have one. ( one clue is there IS no ground wire, the starter gets it ground from being bolted to the engine. 2 large wires go to the large bolt and the small wire goes to the solenoid.)
I don't know how you could remove something and not have a clue as to how it goes back together.

One is hot, or positive and one is ground. Common sense should tell you that they DO NOT go together!

I really believe you are a troll, but just in case this is a true question, and you don't have a clue, the alternator is a generator of sorts. It make it's own power.
