i am not an MLK scholar by any means.. however what he really did was to stand up and speak out against injustice

he spoke even though he knew eventually it would cost him his life.. organizing others into a cohesive group to speak out in peaceful ways against policies that were by their very nature unjust.. attempting to move people towards a world were everyone was considered the same with no regard for the color of their skin.

I see a LOT of people talk about how little he did.. how many of you have stood silently while someone else was attacked verbally, you wanted to speak but knew it would only make you a target so you say nothing...

how many more have stood silently while others were either threatened with or physically abused... again you KNEW it was wrong but were afraid for your own safety so stood silently??

I don't say this to belittle anyone... courage against a mob is almost impossible to muster; and standing alone for right is one of the hardest stances there is... but instead to put forth the courage of Martin Luther King; he spoke out for what is right even though he believed it would end up getting him killed; that kind of courage is hard to find, and should never be belittled

Martin Luther King Jr. was the driving force behind gaining the rights of white Americans, and stopping the silly business of having white and colored bathrooms, drinking fountains, schools, seats on buses, and so on and further. Along with Dr. King was Rosa Parks, an elderly woman who refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white American man.
