Do you know people that want to give you a million reasons why they can't do something?

I call this efforts in negativity. People in the work force will do this, give you a million reasons why they can't get a job done and sometimes people in our personal lives will do this too. Wouldn't it be better if they would give you ONE REASON WHY THEY CAN? Does your spouse/significant other do this to you?

a million reasons means excuses. one good excuse is all you need. too many means you're fudging.

    I don't know.

If people are giving excuses then they are probably afraid, really don't know, or lack determination and motivation or just aren't interested.

That bothers me when people do it at work. Get it done. I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing up possible problems that could arise to get some solutions - work around if they come up. I'm dyslexic and I have my own way of doing things. People don't always understand and I can get lumped in with the unmotivated/undisciplined people of which I don't belong. I learn differently. I process information differently.

The thing is by being misjudged and lumped in with people that I don't belong with - it hurts my self esteem and causes me to doubt myself.

Ask people why they are making excuses. Get at the root.

I know some people that just don't seem interested in much. I think it's usually depression.

I am subject to depression but am highly motivated. What zaps my motivation is when I don't know how to do something. I need more of an explanation and more direction. I am intelligent and smart. I also tire more easily. There is so much that I want to do. I am fortunate in many regards. It's to discipline and motivation. I want to do more.

If there is a way then I'll get it done. I like working - always have.

What tires me out is working so hard to figure out things that seem to come naturally to everyone else. I've had this my entire life. People don't understand b/c they don't have experience. 10% of the population is dyslexic and we are all different.

I think each person deserves respect. You should ask them individually why they aren't motivated to do something. What is the real objection?

Of course I don't understand those that just ignore or disregard their responsibilities. I know people this way. They depend on others way too much. IDK. I know someone that is trying to find out by conducting a study.

Fear of failure is another one. Fear of success. I think fear of failure is more prevalent since failure happens more often than success. Failure is sometimes necessary to obtain success b/c there is wisdom gained in experience too.

    The goals could be wrong.

I want to make a million dollars.

Why? I think that's the wrong goal. It's not motivating to many people.

I think the goal should be something other than money or material. That demotivates me because I don't understand what I need to do. I focus on the need to do myself.

I also have a strong desire to help others.

What drives these people? What matters most to them?

No he doesnt. He is a positive type of person, and extremely good at delegating things to people in such a way that they do it without even realising they've been dumped on.

    Quite often.

He's not that bad, but he'll sit and complain and then when I say to him "Why don't you get up and do something about it then?"

I always get "I don't know where to start" or somethinglike that.

    Answer mine?

Yes, sometimes. I tell him that I don't need excuses, I need effort, and if he can't do it, maybe I don't need him.

I tell my employees that I did not ask for excuses, I asked for results.

There's a reason why success, however defined, eludes so many.
