Quadratics....ugh....help!!!?
3(x+3)^2 = 75
Im confused on whether or not to solve as 3(x+3)^2 - 75=0 and then how to solve from there
If Im setting it to zero and using the quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c =0
the 3(x+3)^2...am I squaring the (x+3) 1st then multiplying by the 3?? Which would look like (x+3)(x+3) = 2x^2 + 9x + 9....so euqation would be
2x^2 + 9x + 9 - 75 = 0 ................is this correct or am I totally off base?

You should divide by 3 first.
3(x+3)^2 = 75
(x+3)^2 =25
sqrt [(x+3)^2] = sqrt [25]
x+3 = 5 or x + 3 = -5
x = 2 or x = -8

I would expand it and then use the quadratic formula. So yes, set it equal to zero and then if you cannot factor it plug it into the quadratic formula to get the roots.
