Sears Auto Center Damaged my Car Radiator?
Took my car to SEARS auto for an oil change and all I know white smoke starts coming out of the radiator took the car to the dealer and they say the AC and radiator have been punctured by some object, how do I go about getting SEARS to pay for the cost of repair which is going to be very high?
I was watching them when they were working on the car and the smoke started comign out while they were working on the engine ofcourse they said we never touched the radiator.
Answer to Hank
Before they lifted the car to change the oil they were trying to open a tube before the radiator so they can change the coolant, when this happend they closed it and said we won't able to change the coolant because its blue and we dont have blue in stock.

Give their corporate offices a call and file a complaint with them. About 15 years ago my Dad had an issue with them after taking his car in for new shocks, the installer cut the corner too tight when pulling out of the shop with the car and did $1,200 in damage to the passenger side of the car. He then parked the car outside and never reported the incident to anyone. We contacted corporate and they had us take it to a local body shop that was very familiar with Sears and repairing their screw-ups.

A good question for you is: HOW? The oil pan is under the car the radiator is in front. Usually at places like this they put a car on a lift, remove the drain plug, let the oil flow out, replace the drain plug, change the filter (again typically under the car), lower the car and replace the oil. At what point did they come in contact with the radiator when you were watching them work on the car?

depends- did the white smoke start coming out of the radiator within a few hours of picking up the car from Sears

Call corporate..... make sure you have all your information ready to go before you do. You need to be prepared to prove that they did it. Also look at the situation as if they didn't do it, try to think of other ways it COULD have happened. be prepared to explain why those other potential causes aren't the case. that do the holes look like? are they cracks? or are they punctures (near perfectly round in shape) look at the shape of the holes and determine what could have caused it. Tools, road debris, etc. If you think up all the possible situations, you'll be able to prove your point. If the holes are clean punctures (near perfect circle in shape) that is very fishy.

You would need to prove they damaged the car. That would be tough. You didn't mention the coolant change at first. Contact the store manager and tell him everything you said here. It sounds as though they hosed up a fitting and tried to quickly dismiss it hoping you wouldn't notice.
