With the above information, I don't see why it wouldn't be. Though I'd replace that motherboard as well if you're really using DDR2 RAM to be honest.

Keep in mind though, you may need a more powerful PSU. Nvidia GTX series is a powerhog and if you bought it stock then most of the time they only put in what the computer requires to run at that time.

GTS 460 will work with ur machine

    BUT

    u don't need a powerfull graphic card like GTX 460 , why ?

u mentioned that ur resolution is 1280*1024 , so u don't need that much powerfull card , something like GTS 250 (7000 Rs) or GTS 450 (8000 Rs) is more than enough for dat resolution , so even u get GTX 460 , it will be just waste of money bcz work could have been done in half of that price

also 4 GB ram is good , but u really don't require that much RAM , if u r building a new Machine than getting 4 GB is ok ,

add another 2 GB stick , so total of 3 GB ram should be fine for all games

    and now 1 question , where did u get Windows 7 Service Pack 3 , SP2 is not even released , and u installed SP3 ????

Note : instead of spending extra money on too much powerfull graphic card or more than enough RAM , buy some Core 2 Quad for having extreme performance in latest ( Metro 2033 , Mafia II )and upcoming games like Crysis 2 etc

    Greetings,

First off i would like to say you that - you computers configuration is really very good. I think you must be a tech saavy person, On the answer to your question "is your CPU compatible with Nvidia GeforceGTX460" - Yes very much compatible with the CPU, Since your processor is Intel Core 2 Duo there will be an inbuilt Graphic card of 256MB, But AMD has an inbuilt graphic card of 512MB, if you are going for Intel core 2 duo then an external graphic card is required to play high resolution games. So you are upgrading your graphic card from 512MB GeForce 8400 to 1MB GeForce GTX460, It should be good more over you hav 1GB ram and tis DDR2. Looks good. You can proceed.

    Regards,

Yes it is, but you may need to use a more powerful PSU, and it may be worth adding an extra fan or two to your case to help keep everything cool.

yes that will work fine i was about to say you will need more ram. just remember you need a 64 bit OS if your going to use more than 3.25 gigs of ram

just makes sure your PSU is atleast rated at 550watts
