Is a French A-level beneficial for a career in the fashion industry?
I'm choosing my A Levels at the moment and are undecided about weather to pick french. I am hoping to do a career in the fashion industry by being a designer, or failing that, a fashion journalist.
I got an A in my GCSE and did it a year early. So i don't think i'll have any problem doing it. It's just im worried it's going to be too much work as im also doing:
English Language and Literature
Japanese
Textiles
World Development
And im also thinking of taking Sociology instead.
So, i was wondering weather French is a valued language to have in the workplace. I'd especially like to here from people who have had experience in the fashion industry. Is it of any benefit or importance?
And i'd appreciate some serious answers please ¬¬

French... not a great choice for fashion. It could work for you if your company has a French supplier, but these days the number 1 language requested in fashion is Chinese. Whether it be Mandarin or Cantonese, I cannot say. Look at the jobs on stylecareers.com and do a search of each one separately and compare what comes back.
The other languages requested in the industry are (in this order):
1 - Spanish
2 - Korean (growing requests)
3 - Italian
Once in a stretch I see someone wanting a Japanese speaking employee, but not too frequently at all. I point of reference is New York, so take that into consideration. Sociology? Why do you want to take that? I took it in college and it was interesting, but know what I know now I wouldn't have taken it. Studying the outcome of a project about black men infected with syphilis in Tuskegee, AL from 1932 to 1972 is the only thing I remember from that class. I don't even remember the outcome of the project, but just that we studied something about that topic.
A Levels -- does that refer to high school in Britain? If so, don't overload yourself too much. You still have to go to college. You will learn a lot there, but you will also learn a lot from internships.

Ooh...I like each....however I'd must say that baked potato wins via an excessively slender margin. I'm considering the melted cheese, chives, bitter cream, bacon bits, pepper, and different diverse yummies you'll be able to placed on a baked potato... Make certain it is a LARGE russet potato on the grounds that for baked potatoes the ones are outstanding!
