questions about replacing furnace?

how long does it take to replace an entire furnace, mine is 60 years old! also do they need to go in any other rooms to look at vents or anything or do they just do it all in the basement. my upstairs rooms don't heat very well and i'm hoping this will help, we aren't having the duct work done right away though so im not sure if that will have a big impact or not, anyone know? we are having a Trane put in, not sure which model but it suppose to have lots of extras

Replacing the furnace wont require working in other rooms, but he may want to check vents for flow when starting it up.

They will replace it in half a day and just need to get to the basement. They would go to each room in the house to test the vents airflow and temperature when they have it running. A Trane will be a good unit to have. I would have the upstairs rooms that don't heat well, have the ducts replaced or have them inspected because a new unit might have the same problem.

Sixty year old ducts would be made out of sheet metal and still be in good condition, on the outside, dirty inside. Usually, I don't think duct cleaning is necessary usually, but it would be a good idea in your case.

Brand makes absolutely no difference. A furnace heats.

If you're not updating your duct work, there will be a small difference, but nowhere near what it should be.

I had mine replaced, and they had to install 5 new vents in order for the furnace to run efficiently.
