My opinion of feminism is that it was and still is necessary in order to get women to where they are, legally, which is equal to men. If it didn't occur I wouldn't be able to vote, I would be in the kitchen all day, and be required to be at the mercy of men in my life, which is not acceptable. So I am thankful for feminism.

Feminism may be viewed as over the top or radical. I think that if it was a more moderate movement it wouldn't have been as successful. I think many men, not all, who are against or have problems with it are chauvinists or don't really understand the importance and motives of feminism, but that's fine, because there is no way anyone is going to reverse the results of feminism and make women second class citizens. :)

I don't like feminism but I like equality. Feminism is extreme and often takes away the rights of men and children. Equality is equal rights for everybody and does not exclude anybody.

wow...i am a gender studies professor and feminism is doctrine that promotes social equality for men and women. feminists do not hate men, they like them. we feminists need men in our fight for social equality. feminism used to be more extreme. There are 3 waves of feminism and we are now in the third. This third wave of feminism is very diverse. If you so much as believe in equal pay for women you are a feminist. Feminism is for everybody. Please stop with the stereotypical remarks about feminism and get educated. This is the twenty first century not the civil rights era.

Everyone who's sane is in favour of absolute gender equality(true meaning of the word feminism).

Everyone who's sane thinks that these bitches in these mainstream feminists organizations are crazy and should be institutionalized.

At least as far as I see it portrayed, it sounds like a harmful way for people with nothing to do to burn their time away.

It's just so absurd, it's sexist against men and women. Examples of sexism against women:

    - every time a girl does anything ordinary that is supposed to be the most amazing thing in the world, and one has to ask: what do you take us for that each time we breath you praise us as if it's beyond ourselves?

    - girls that are pretty are automatically considered intelligent, empowered and the like, so one they are still looking only at a girl's beauty, and second they saying women can't genuinely have these qualities, since they receive the praise, but grounded on their beauty.

    - they think the reason girls fall behind on anything is because it's not pink enough, giving the impression girls are incapable of overcoming sometimes futile reasons and that their reasons are necessariyl futile.

    Sexism against men:

    - men can't ever be the victims and are treated as born-evil, they can't have emotions, they can't feel offended by their portrayal in the media (as if it were only fair), and their achievement is viewed as a block to women's achievement.

    - women only get to top by putting men on the bottom, injustice against men by women, bullying, offensive portrayal, violence etc are praised.

    - they care about the 0.1 % of girls not performing as well as boys in standard math and science tests, but when they notice that boys are behind girls enormously in almost all other things, then it's alright. It's kinda like: "Here girls outperform boys so we're good, but here we still need improvement, 0.1 % of girls are a tidy bit behind. Very worrying" >:(

Much like unions. Started for very good reasons, but as the issues were addressed, it turned more towards trying to have advatnages instead of fairness.

Feminism is for women who can't think for themselves and need a crutch to lean on. Women can be independent, self-reliant, strong, fair and feminine without being called feminists. Women can be whatever the hell they wanna be.

And if feminists went away then men would stop whining.

it's a hate-movement focused around blaming men for everything wrong, absolving women of any & all responsibility and promoting women's rights over men's & children's lives.

I appreciate the feminist movement, it's nice to believe in equality and being treated fairly. However that said, I despise feminists and if it weren't for men we wouldn't have this equality in the first place. So I still believe we should be giving thanks to men and appreciating them and definitely continuing the sandwich making.
