Hindus : Whom to Worship? - God or Karma?
Thanks for ShanJi.
A friend(who was once very religious) passed through great personal tragedy.
all told him that its Karma, how even God doesnt even interfere with our Karma.
But then, he replied, why shouldnt we just worship Karma? After all, if we get
no help from God, why waste time worshipping him/her?
I agree in principle with what he says. When everything is going ok in your
life, its easy to say "We should worship God for what he is, not expecting
anything in return" etc etc, but in times of great personal tragedy or pain,
everyone loses hope. Even Christ, for one second, said "Lord why have you
forsaken me?" before remembering who he was.
So why should we worship God? Why not, like the Buddhists, say there is no God,
only the Law of Karma, & our only goal is to extiniguish our mind into the void?
Buddhists quietly do their Karma, while preparing to merge their mind into the
void. That way, they dont have to blame some God for their troubles. Is this way
superior to the Hindu path?
WHAT IS THE USE OF PRAYING /
WORSHIPING HIM ( KRISHNA ) AS HE SAYS JUST DO YOUR DUTIES ( KARMA ) AND LEAVE
THE REST TO ME I WILL TAKE CARE.
I am not trying to say Buddhism is superior or Hinduism is Inferior, Just clarifying if Something God happens we say its our effort of Gods grace, but if something goes wrong we say it coz of the Karma!

"But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."____by Buddha swastika(1st person who answered u"....i totally agree....
i do not believe in worshiping any one for good to happen.
i agree the thing " don't have to blame god for troubles in Buddhism "in ur details.
u worship someone because u respect, dats a good thing...it will remove the bad thoughts..
if u believe in ur own good deeds and expect the result ,that's good..u''ll enjoy because u''ll get peace......
i mean ,whether the result may not be ,as u expected, but there is the satisfaction as u have given ur 100%....that satisfaction gives u peace...
but to worship someone to get something in return is nothing but a foolishness....why worshiping to anyone for the fruit.....whether good or bad happens it's not because of god ,,,,it's because of u.

Think about a child. He is put in a school. First he learns Alphabets, then words, then sentences and then he learns theories and so on. What would you say ? Are the theories superior than sentences ? Are the sentences superior than words ? Are the alphabets inferior of all ? Naturally, it looks like. But as one can understand here that if he had not learn what u think is inferior, he could not learn the things u call superior. That implies that everything has its own significance in life and nothing is really superior or inferior. In fact, same inferior things come back to you in life if u really live.
So, Buddhism could probably be a need of the hour when it originated, and of the place and conditions where it originated. All religions have been like this. Because this world runs on an excellent system of nature.
As far as worshipping God is concerned, we don't have to worship God; we have to worship different spiritual sources like Krishna, like Rama, like Parvati and Shiva, etc. The benefit is not worldly, it is spiritual. Religions attract people towards these sources so that they can be driven to spirituality some day. As far as their not helping is concerned, they actually never help unless they see that the person's belief in them would be really high if they help. Because believing with all your heart is what you need first and most, to rise yourself spiritually.

Work is worship is a "saying".One should perform his specific duties sincerely without fail. This means he should not deviate from his assigned duty. Here duty is important and not it s result.A doctor s duty is to attend a patient immediately without bothering his early recovery.Early recovery or further treatment depends on patient s stamina. Here duty is one s"dharma" .Karma is activities involving senses for sensual pleasure or harming others or other activities which involve sin.Only these activities result in tragedy or punishment or sufferings either in this birth or in the next.Whether you worship God or not one has to suffer due to Karma.Even if you worship Karma, you can not escape the punishment from sinful activities in the past or the present.

An ordinary person (like a poor farmer, a poor factory worker, a poor clerk ,if he does his duty towards family (parents, brothers and sisters and wife and children ) is treated by God Almighty as his equal . Big philosophers, professors and even saints---all have to wait in God's outer chambers till the interview with the poor dutiful man is over. By the end of the interview the poor man is found converted to a separate form of God Almighty himself !
The rich persons who did a thousand pilgrimages, who constructed a thousand temples and conducted a thousand holy rituals spending tons of gold are not equal to the duty minded man.Intellectuals, scholars, world conquering warriors , the richest strongest politicians etc---all add up to a zero before the man who performs his duties without selfish motive whether towards family, society, his employers and towards country. Most people worship God from a purely selfish motive---to get wealth, fame, post of MLA/MP/minister etc . They get only a few milligrams of God's kindness. If you do good deeds you will get heaven for a few hours, few days ,few months ,few years. But finally you have to return to earth to start a new life. But the man of duty (rich or poor) if he does his duty selflessly becomes a God permanently equal to the God Almighty himself in all respects.
This is the true" karma theory." A beautiful poetic theory it is !

There are few things including our death over which even Krishna or prayers can do any thing. Universal laws are not broken even by supreme God.
To do faithfully, karma is the advise given by Krishna. I understand this advise as under:-
We are too much selfishly concern and involved with our life. So in every even and actions and results we involve too much. This is EGO. Ego doe4s not take you up spiritually.
So, Ego is kind of heavy chain for all of us and if our aim is to go positively further in Spiritual way, then Ego should be left behind almost totally.
So, Krishna's advice is for those who want to progress spiritually. here he assures that those who have strong wish to progress spiritually, I fully give him backing.

God does not interfere with your good as well as bad karmaphal. If we blame God then we are ignorant.
Your question ---If karma decides wether we face trouble or happiness why we should pray God?------ The prayer is to gives us strength to bear the pain.
Your question "So why should we worship God? Why not, like the Buddhists, say there is no God,
only the Law of Karma, & our only goal is to extiniguish our mind into the void?" ------ Someone has to give you pain or pleasure as per karma. you cannot give it yourself. That some one is God

A farmer worships the agriculture as well as the agricultural implements. An industrialist worships the world humanity as well as the industrial machineries. Durga Puja is conducted to worship the tools and implements as well as the knowledge and literature
Worship should be extended to everything which are mine and which are helpful to us for our day-to-day life - whether it is God or Karma or anything under the sky.
Source(s): We can not deny anything on earth which are not helpful to us. Those are to be worshiped one by one. Everything has its own way to be worshiped. A King is worshiped by paying theTax. A fruit is worshiped by eating it when it is ripe. A cot is worshiped by lying on it. A house is worshipped by living in it and keeping it clean. - MoniLv 41 decade ago
Worship GOD as He is the writer of our Karma !
Goodness GOD, who is the positive energy in us will automatically make us do good Karma for the next birth and lead us to Godliness as a realised Soul out of the cycle of rebirth into Salvation/Moksh/Nirvana.

u cannot worship karma because karma is nothing but thoughts, behaviour and action in the past& present life. praying god purifies us --physically& mentally. buddha denied the existence of god but he acknowledged an impersonal power which has begeted birth-death cycles and he also accepted the concept of rebirth because he himself saw millions of rebirhs like a video film at the time of experiencing the truth.
god has a form. for those who cannot worship him in a form--for them he is formless and he is also beyond both the states.
when krishna is talking of karma, he is talking of all the activities the individual undertakes to reach him. krishna certainly did not mean karmic actions such as gossips, service, craving for wealth, entertainment. unfortunatly it is misconstrued by the society. that is why a businessman who exploits a society also quotes bhagavdgita. the only purpose of a human is to attain him. krishna calls that purpose as karma.
lastly., even if the god or impersonal power is with us, we cannot get rid off ba actions of past & present karmas.
look at the saints including jesus with whom god lived all the time had to undergo lots of hardships & trajedies,

According to Hindu scriptures only through the crucified Supreme God Purusa can we have immortality. (Yajur Veda 31:18, Svetasvataropanisad 3:8, Rg Veda 10:90:6). Purusa means The Person in English. Purusa is Prajapati, the Lord of Creation.
When we read a scripture wholistically instead of picking & choosing verses and neglecting others, you will learn that sometimes there is the word "only" that has to apply under all conditions. Thus, acccording to Yajur Veda 31:18, only through Purusa, God In Person, can you have immortality. The scripture may specify other conditions, but "God In Person" must also be fulfilled. This Purusa prophecy is fulfilled only in Christ in human history.
Who says there is no God in Buddhism? Buddha Gautama seeked (worshipped) Dhamma (the Truth) as in its scripture Dhamma-pada. This is similar to Confucius, who many people mistakenly thought as atheist or agnostic. Confucius actually worshiped Dao (the Way) also called ShangDi. Jesus proclaimed Himself as Dhamma & Dao (John 14:6). The Bible also called Christians as Followers of Dao. The ancient Chinese character ShangDi on the front covers of "God's Promise To The Chinese" and "Highway to Your Imortality" symbolizes "God On A Cross."
Thus, in the many verses, you will find that all these scriptures, but not necessarily the religions (commentaries of the scriptures, which may miss the core of the scriptures themselves), seem to have an only way to salvation, a common theme, that leads to Jesus. Thus, if you truly follow the scriptures, you should read the Bible & Hindu scriptures side by side, and find out on your own that Jesus is the only fulfilment of Purusa in Hindu scriptures.
FYI: according to the Bible, Magi of Eastern Religions worshiped Jesus. Jesus also proclaimed that He has religious followers not of Judaism (John 10:16).
Thus, studying Hindu & Christian scriptures side-by-side, the choice is clear: worship Purusa; i.e. Jesus.
This is a must: a book called "Christ in the Vedas." As always, verify all the verses in the Hindu scriptures, and make your decision based on the new knowledge of your own scriptures.
