How do Install ethernet driver?
I reloaded Windows and now can't connect to the internet. The problem seems to be with the ethernet controller and I think I can solve it by installing a new driver. I downloaded several different drivers that should be compatible with my system, but I can't get the computer to recognize any...the error message is that no driver can be found...even when I browse and click right on it. Am I leaving a step out? (It wants me to connect to the internet to search for the driver and obviously I can't)

..Was the driver file in a compressed or "zip" format...if it was you'll have to "unzip" it to a directory and then browse to it.
Some driver packages come with different drivers for different OS's (Win xp ,Win Vista ) etc so you may have to point to that specific file for your version of WIndows in the driver's folder...AND/or you may have to look for and browse to the driver's .INI file (or .DLL) file for it to install.

You need to find out which exactly Ethernet card your machine has. You can do it on the computer's manufacturer's web site, search by model off the label on the machine. Note that even the same model of the computer can be shipped from the manufacturer with different models of ethernet cards thus you need to be careful and find the correct card model you have. Then you need to download the driver from another computer with Internet access, get it on USB thumb drive and transfer and install on the machine in trouble.

We need to know what type of computer it is. If it's got built in ethernet or if you added the card later. Usually you can just go to that manufacturers website and get the driver.
