just wondering

I most definitely do not regret my vasectomy. My wife had 2 difficult pregnancies and we knew we did not want more than 2 children. So we knew our family was complete. The procedure, in skilled hands, takes around 15 minutes, minimal discomfort. No more birth control hassles and no more anxiety about unintended pregnancy. There is no doubt - Sex is far better without that hassle and that anxiety. If you are done having children, there is no better option for permanent contraception than vasectomy. The one exception is when the female is having a C-section, at which time she can have a tubal ligation (tubes tied), without adding additional surgery or additional risk. I wrote the FAQ below - it really touches on most of the issues that tend to come up in this very common discussion.

My real sex life started after I had my vasectomy. Prior to that it was worry, worry, and more worry about making a pregnancy. I think fear of STD pale by comparison.
I am 44. Most of my friends are 40-60. Pretty much everyone has a vasectomy by my age. Anyway, most of my friends have children. I have never heard anyone say they regret having a vasectomy. I often hear them say they regret having children.
I paid $250 cash for my vasectomy in 1989. (yes I was 21 at the time). That means it cost me just over $1 a month in all that time to not have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy.
Not having a vasectomy is like not having auto insurance.

No but it depends on why I got the vasectomy in the first please. I was done having kids. Had I gotten it because my wife insisted, I would have regretted giving her that kind of control over my body and most likely would have wound up hating her

No way. It was a minor procedure with only a few days rest. It is by far the most effective form of birth control.

No. I hated having to mess with birth control, and the threat of more babies. It was easier and cheaper for me to have minor surgery than for her to have major surgery.
