If you see it through street wise/market wise eyes JAVA is on the rise with J2EE and most of the basic level programming/program use JAVA as their language. As per the C++ , I am not asking you to drop it but C++ is little more embedded than JAVA.

I would recommend you to go with the Advance JAVA with Networking with C++ on the side.

C#, but hold on a moment... .net is a 8.5 GIGAbyte plug-in. To run a single button with a single action with dot-net takes that huge plug-in. Compare that with java's 35megabyte plug-in. In other words, you can install java over the internet.

Java is moving to Java7 java.vm and the plan is to allow multiple languages acting as a script that converts into java bytes. Dynamic language. it will be so nice to operate Windows platforms without using Windows or Microsoft Visual Studio.

In other words, begin to familiarize yourself with using standalone libraries. Java includes JNI, or JNA to bind 3rd-party solutions. JPA will offer the most practical database configuration possible. Imagine the power of Java bringing that into the Microsoft GUI.
