What should I do about my blister?

I stepped on a hot coal about 28 hours ago and now I have a blister. I'm not interested in lancing it but I have to go to work in a few hours and I will be moving around and lifting heavy objects for about ten hours. Should I pop it now while I can take care of it properly or risk it bursting while I'm on the job? (I know how to take care of an open sore)

Either way, how long do I have to wait for it to heal? It's about half an inch in diameter.

Probably it's too late now, but if you have to walk on a blister then it's best to pop it and then wrap it with some protective gauze so that it doesn't get infected and can drain and heal more quickly.
