why do men feel the need to lie?

Sometimes lying is a good think to do, it essential for society to work: imagine if you said "what are you thinking about" and he said "I was just thinking you look fatter than usual today" or something. - so yes lying can sometimes be a good moral choice I think.

But usually men lie because they've done something wrong, in which case they will lie to A) avoid being in trouble, B) avoid the hassle of having to have a conversation about it, or C) not hurt someone's feelings. A lot of men are v selfish and arrogant and so will get into stupid situations and then have to lie about it to protect themselves and so A or B will usually be the reason, not C.

Not me though, but I am a rarity! If women are so intuitive, why aren't they all over me? Because on the whole women like loud jerks with no brains who only think about themselves, imo stupid men are tools for women to utilise while they get on with other things, but the men's crappy deceitful behaviours are the price u pay, these interactions are an evolutionary byproduct of our increased brain size as a species. Me damaged? Hmmmmm...

You are experiencing something based on the men in your life I think. Most men do not feel the need to lie. As you meet more people in life you will find that there are a lot of good honest people out there. It's really hard to be a trusting person and get hurt though, so I understand the question.

Good question! Sometimes its just habit and the lie is just a way of avoiding going into details (some men are not all that chatty). Or its a way of keeping his sense of freedom (he doesnt want to feel controlled). But I think for the most part they are scared that they will be rejected if they tell the truth. The best thing you can do with a man like this is to accept him just they way he is. even if you know he is lying just nod as normal. The more he feels accpeted the more he will open up. And when he does open up and perhaps tells you something you dont like, be sure not to get angry or upset with him, try to be understanding. He will lose the need to lie. It takes a very loving and patient person!

Both men and women lie. It's not exclusively men who do. Sometimes, it's to save the feelings of another but other times it is for malicious purposes.

On the other hand though, there are many honest men and women out there. As another poster has said, you are basing this on the 'men' in your life - they are not all like that and if they are, lose them from your life and find some new friends.

Its not just men that lie, women do too! We are just better at it so don't get caught out as often!! Its human nature to keep secrets and tell little fibs, obviously lying can go to extremes and can become a problem and hurt many people, but i don't think men are anymore guilty of this than women.

Not all men do. Perhaps you set him up to lie or you can't easily accept the truth so you make it hard to tell you what really happened. I think you need to look deeper into him and yourself for the real answer.

It's just natural honey. Sometimes, I may be searching something on the internet and my wife may ask what I'm doing and I will just make something up. Just like writing this answer, she thinks I'm doing homework.

Because women never believe when they speak the truth for they want to hear their words from his mouth.Same way as women hides things from her man.

That is the nature with many people. They can not help.
