Good grief. Brady is playing with a similar defense as Manning and he still gets it done.
Don't give that lame excuse. Manning can't survive with his Pro Bowl recivers but Brady can
Manning has his talented recievers. Brady don't. Who cares about yardages when you have talented corp.
Plus, I didn't birng the entirely list of Brady's accomplishments. His is LONGER THAN MANNING.

Manning's list is longer. That's why.
Your #8 is crap, because Manning is # 1.
Your #9 is crap because Manning is # 2.
Peyton made a Super Bowl last year with Reggie Wayne, bunch of no-names and a 30th rated running game.
Lastly, if you are going to use the excuse that 'Manning has been gifted with great receivers', then you have to throw out all of Brady's 2007 records. You can't have it both ways.

Yeah, thumbs down me, even though I more than adequately answered your question.
You asked why people think Manning is better and I told you. You are a typical Patriots fan.
Go ahead and PROVE Brady's list of records is longer than Manning's. Easy to say, impossible to prove because it isn't true in any way, shape or form.

I'm amazed by all these bandwagoners who come out from nowhere after a player has a 3 bad game streak and his numbers are still nearly identical to Drew Brees'.
I discuss some of your points.
1. Manning owns the most consecutive wins record, and he could have extended it when he was 14-0 but he sat after halftime last season against the Jets..
2. Again, Manning could have done last season it but he voluntarily decided to sit in the last two games.
5. Besides his rookie year and 2008 when he hurt his knee in the first game, Brady has never had a season without interceptions.
6. Manning threw 2 passes and sat when he threw 49. Brady needed to play the entire last game to break the record.
8. Manning's is higher and holds the record
9. Manning's is higher.
10. Unfortunately, Neil O'Donnell's is higher so this doesn't prove anything
11. Manning has 4
17. Give some credit to that coach too, without Brady and with a QB that hadn't started a game since High School he won 11 games.
I got tired at this point and I knew this without doing any research.

NFL top 100 players ever:
Peyton Manning, ranked 8th and 3rd among QB behind Montana and Unitas
Tom Brady, ranked 21st and 7th among QB

There really isn't any question in my mind that Brady is not only better than Manning but vastly superior.
Manning is just about completely useless in big games. Manning is a human interception machine when faced with even minimum pressure. Manning collapses mentally and physically if he gets knocked around just a little bit. Manning can be very good in the regular season but he's barely average in the post season (where he has to face the typically better than average defenses).
Under no circumstances would I ever choose Manning to start over Brady in a post season game.

Aaron Rogers is better than Peyton this year. The packers are dealing with just as much injuries as the colts have on offense and rogers has like 1 or no interceptions.
If you really want the separation between manning and brady. Just compare post season stats. After all greatness comes in the post season. Manning probably has one stat better than brady and that is interceptions.

This week...yes. This year even, yes. But, over his career? It's sort of like arguing between Dan Marino and Joe Montana through the 80s. Both of those two are in anyone's conversation about the best ever. Add to that, we're seeing Roethlisberger, who is also a lower tier HOF QB in the making, and Drew Breese, Philip Rivers, Aaron Rogers, Michael Vick.... and we're maybe seeing the best QB play we've ever seen in the NFL.

The Tom Brady versus Peyton Manning debate ended when Peyton Manning threw the interception that was returned for a touchdown in the Super Bowl. After that it was decided. Tom Brady was definitely, 100%, without a doubt, better than Peyton Manning.
CURRENTLY, Tom Brady is trying to win his 4th Super Bowl. If he accomplishes that feat, he is the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL

And you will get list stating all that manning has done. You can't compare qb's that way. It's a team game and it takes the team as a whole to do anything. Do I believe tom is better, of course i do but i'm a pats fan. Have i seen what manning can do, yes and until this year i never though anyone could do what he does. Tom can. They are both two of the greatest to ever plat the game, give them both their do without trying to judge.

You gota post up peyton mannings stats too, ya know:
never missing a game something brady can never do
calling his own plays
4 mvps
1 superbow mvp
most yardage in a season
Peytons on track to break all the records, but Brady right now has more superbowls, I always look at it like this, could Brady thrive on the Colts? maybe, but how good would Manning be on the Patriots, I mean Matt Cassel won 11 games on that team.
- 1 decade ago
Frankly, you just wasted your time, because the people who think Manning is better just WANT to believe that for reasons that have nothing to do with stats and games...whether it's being Colts fans, being from the South or SEC fans from when he was at Tennessee (still whining about him not winning the Heisman over a guy who played offense, defense AND special teams), just get tired of hearing about Brady all the time or whatever. I mean, a lot of NFL fans are illogical and you're trying to use logic to convince them of something. A lot of these people were ready to give Vick the season's MVP award after, like, one game and he hasn't even played all season.
- Anonymous1 decade ago
because he's almost always had a better defense... that sets him up in sweet situations constantly...
he's good, but this gets back to the old "what would peyton manning do with that team?" question...
Brady is the Emmitt Smith to Petyon's Barry Sanders.... notice how your top three stats are TEAM stats...
EDIT: lol... Brady's defense is much better... and has been for the VAST majority of his career... with the possible exception of the Super bowl year, when even Peyton's defense wasn't nearly as good as Brady's Super Bowl defenses...
- UnknownJetsFanLv 51 decade ago
Manning is better. He is way smarter then Brady. Brady got a system in his offense, you put another QB in brady spot, he'll produce teh same stats as he will, Matt Cassel proved that.
