A slow train leaves Canberra at 9:17 AM and arrives in Goulburn at 12:02 PM On the same day, the express train leaves Canberra at 9:56 AM and arrives in Goulburn at 11:36 AM. At what time does the express pass the slow train if each is travelling at a constant speed?

    slow train takes 165 mins

    express train takes 100 mins

    so we can say that the rates of slow & express trains are 20 & 33 units/min resply.

    let t = mins after start of express

    slow train starts 39 mins earlier, so

    20(39+t) = 33t

    13t = 20*39

    t = 60

    ans: 10:56 am
