Will I be charged for my bag possibly being to large?
So the delta size limit for checked baggage is a total of 62 inches for length width and height.. my suitcase is exactly 62 inches. It is normally like 25 bucks to check a bag, but if your bag exceeds the size limit it is 175! I don't have another suitcase and I am broke college student trying to get home for the holidays. Do you think the airport will give me grief? Even if I start to cry? How strict are they?

If the limit is 62" and your suitcase is 62", you shouldn't have any problem at all. The airport has nothing to do with this - it's airline policy and up to the individual agents that you might deal with. Crying won't help if you have an issue. You can expect the airlines to be fairly strict when flights are completely full. You're more likely to have a problem if your bag is overweight than if it is slightly over the size restrictions. I can't remember ever seeing anyone measuring the dimensions of a bag.

If it is 62 inches then they shouldn't charge, it just cannot be any bigger than that. To be on the safe side, you can give Delta a call and double check with them.

How strict they are depends entirely on the whims of the airline's check in staff. I'd make especially sure that you are under weight. It it's a soft sided bag you don't want to overstuff to add to your dimensions at all.
Good luck!
