planning a wedding in 6 months: help!?
I'm getting married in 6 months, and I'm on a VERY low budget, so I want this to be a low-key, family bbq type of thing. I don't know what you're supposed to do to plan a wedding besides pick a place and time... any tips?

It depends. Do you have a maid of honor and bridesmaids? Does your soon-to-be-hubby have a best man, and groomsmen? Dresses, tuxs, flowers, food, the cake, who is officiating, your invitations/RSVP cards, music (before and during the ceremony) and then music for your dance, your first dance, registries, your rings, wedding pictures (YOU WILL WANT THESE!) -- don't go cheap on them... they are the only thing to have/hold on to forever, guest book, toasting glasses, garter, marriage license (pick up earlier than later...!), hotel room, honeymoon....
I know you may be overwhelmed by this. Open an excel spreadsheet and plug in each of these items and then check them off when you are finished. Let me know if you have any questions! I got married about 11 months ago -- so it's still fresh in my mind! :-)
The important thing is to have fun and to not sweat the small stuff. There may be imperfections, but let it go. Ultimately remember what the day is all about and enjoy it! Also -- some tips that were given to me for my wedding day: 1) take time to soak in the moments; stop, reflect, and think. When you and your hubby leave, talk about each other's favorite parts of the day; 2) understand just how fast the day will go. Treasure it ALL! I'm serious... It flies by super quickly!! Also -- even if you are on the pill, wear a panty liner. Our cycles get kind of weird and messed up... so just have one, just in case you start! (I started on my honeymoon... bring all of the women stuff with you, just in case, even if you don't plan for it!)

Make a list of everything you need ie. location, food, invitations, flowers (If your having them), an authorized person to marry you etc. The work out a budget, how much approximately you have to spend and start ringing around for quotes, finding the cheapest in your area.
