Help - don't want to sleep, but feel down when I'm tired?
I've been feeling sad to the point of tears recently, even though I've got it pretty good at the moment. It's just small things, like worry that friends don't like me, or that work isn't going well, that I'll fail next semester or that I'm almost 19 and never been kissed (okay, that's a biggie, but it shouldn't bring me down so much). I'm naturally a fairly happy person, but it seems that when I get even the slightest bit tired recently, that I start crying and feeling quite a deep depression.
But on the other hand, I don't want to sleep - I get vivid nightmares, sleepwalk and sleeptalk, rearrange things all around my room, all sorts of things. Plus, there's always something to do to distract myself from sleeping - like, right now, it's 1:30 am.
Can you help me at all? A way not to feel depressed, or a way to sleep dreamlessly, or some other magical solution?
Thanks
lx
Please ignore my spelling and grammatical errors - as I said, it's 1:30 am :/ No excuse, I know, but still.

It might well be that your disturbed sleep is the route of the problems here. If you are constantly having poor quality sleep then that can easily affect your general mental wellbeing, and can lead to depression. Avoiding sleep only exacerbates the problem, but then sleep doesn't provide a solution. So you're stuck in a catch 22 situation.
I would suggest that you could speak to a doctor who might be able to guide you. I'm not sure if sleeping tablets would help because they are a very short term solution. However, there might be some kind of therapy that could help you in the longer term.
You clearly have some other worries but they are general insecurities that many people of your age would be having. It could just be that your lack of decent sleep makes you more susceptible to these issues and they become magnified in your mind.

I would kiss you ^_^, and yes I'm a guy. Never kissed anyone either, except a french poodle (too much beer).
I have seen this before. What you need is to have some fun. Go some place far and crazy, and invite a friend or two. You could visit Aruba and go to all the bars and buy a moose!
