Tarot card readings - your views please?
I personally don't believe in this stuff, but my daughter went to one today and she came back and told me stuff about MY childhood he told her that no way he could ever know (and no, she didn't know it either!!) Believe or disbelieve? I'm veering towards believing because I have no real choice. But its a tad scary!
The physic thing is right - he also claims that ability. The scary thing is that no-one and I mean NO-ONE knows this stuff about me.

Would you have noticed if she came back and told you a bunch of stuff that sounded vaguely familiar but didn't click? The 'scary accuracy' may ahve been self-selecting. your response makes it accurate.
The readings are there to open doors to new perceptions. Clearly, this reading did that for you two... it opened the way for a discussion you might not have otherwise had. If she'd come back with another story, another discussion would have been had instead and it still would have been "acurate."
Tarot cards can be excellent tools. I can't say much about psychics, however.

Firstly, just to clarify.(So you know where my answer is coming from) You don't need any form of physic gift to read the tarot effectively. I'm not gifted in that way, and I haven't yet got to the stage in my spiritual path where I'd try and communicate with spirits of any kind.
Tarot readings don't usually give that sort of result.
Tarot can help put situations into perspective. They don't tell fortunes and they don't read the future, only what will happen in any given situation.
To give a blunt example...if a drug addicted, alcoholic prostitute with a troubled past gets a reading, the cards will read "You are messing up your life and the next person you meet will be the death of you, look to your past and see where you went wrong, it seems to be your Mother's fault"
But if that prostitute then kicks her addictions and starts to be more picky about who she beds...the reading will change to something more positive, and will help her sort her life out from there.
The person who read your Tarot cards is ether a VERY good cold reader (A skill used by TV magicians like Derren Brown), and even by police detectives, or actually psychic in their own way.
Cold reading is not a deception, and when I do it, I never lie and say "The spirits told me"
it's simply a way of giving the best Tarot Reading for the person.
It's my guess that the reader was a psychic or a medium of some kind, and had neglected to tell your Daugter of their skills, which is dishonest and likely to confuse people.

I frequently do tarot card readings for myself and for friends. In my experience I've found that when they are right they are uncannily right, however other times they can be totally off the mark (although this may be due to me interpreting what the cards are trying to say wrongly). Its common to believe that tarot cards are evil and satanic, and will regularly predict your demise, but I rarely make a negative reading for anyone. However, it is rare for tarot cards to make reference to the past (you said they talked about your childhood?), tarot card readings typically focus on the present, near future and more distant future. So I would look into who made that reading, because they could have been drawing from a different source of information (either practical or spiritual) without consent.

It could be a matter of coincidence.
That being said, you should also be aware that Swiss Psychologist Carl G. Jung did a lot of work regarding the symbolism of the tarot cards and how they relate to analytical psychology.
I would not greatly concern myself with the details nor would I place any reliance on what the card reader deduced. Be careful in dealing with card readers unless you know them well over a long period of time. There is the possibility of fraud and manipulation. Be ever vigilant.

It's called Cold Reading and is used by 'psychics', 'mediums', 'astrologers' and 'Tarot readers' (they all give exactly the same kind of information).
A lot of it relies on our poor understanding of how common many experiences are, how much we give away about ourselves, how we can be captivated by an interesting lie, and how easily we forget 'misses' compared to 'hits'. When people get to actually watch themselves back it's easier to see what the 'reader' is doing, often feeding back information you have given yourself back to you and switching failed guesses of past events to possible future ones. It sounds too dumb to be true but it works with only a little training (as many have demonstrated), and the use of a magical 'prop' helps too.
Let Derren Brown explain it for you:

Tarot card readings are by far the most accurate way of foretelling the future, closely followed by reading tea-leaves and shoving your thumb up your ****.

Let your kids or other people believe what they want to believe and don't persecute. If you persecute you will be a bd influence in my eyes. Just let them believe what they want and you believe what you want to believe and don't interfere with others' beliefs.

Tarot card reader get their 'insight' from demons! Did you know that the word demon comes from the greek word daemon meaning 'intellegence'? They arent stupid lil demons. You better not allower your daughter to go back. Demons know about you! The Bible highly condemns pyscics(however u spell it).
