Why would the time of day affect the speed of my laptop?

This is kind of weird. During the day, my machine runs just fine, but in the evenings and later at night, it is slow as molasses. Some pages don't load at all, some take a few minutes, and others load with errors. What's going on here?

If you use wireless internet then it might mean that someone near you is also using wireless internet on the same router channel.

So - when they are at work and their router is switched off there is no problem, when they come home in the evening and switch their router on you get interference.

The way to fix this is to either:

change the channel your router broadcasts on or

restart your router in the evening

You may be sharing an internet connection with other people. Or if yours is wireless you may not have it password protected and someone is using your connection at night which will slow you down.

Peek times for internet.. meaning everyone gets off of work and gets on the internet and causes it to slow
