Is a 4 year old computer with a 2010 hard drive considered new?
One of my computers (oldest in the house) has a 2010 hard drive but we got it in like 2005 or 2006 would it be basicly brand new?

No, it's not new. The motherboard, CPU, video card, and all internal components (other than the hard drive) are still four years old. Adding a newer hard drive will not make much difference in this computer's performance.

If I put a brand new motor in a 5 year old car would you call it all brand new? The hard drive wont make a computer "new" or even run like new. Its still a 5 year old computer with a "new" hard drive. Sorry

No, it would be considered a 4 or 5 year old computer with a new hard drive in it. The other components, such as the motherboard, memory and processor, are from a previous or older generation and are not "new".

No its not even basically brand new. The hard drive is just where all the memory is stored on the computer, so no its not new at all.

If you put new car seats in 10 year old car, will it be considered new?
A new computer, now we are talking about law here, is with everything new. Otherwise if you say it new and sell it to someone and he finds the old stuff in it, you will find yourself charged with fraud if he goes to police.
Now on personal level, and I speaking geek language here, if you have upgraded cpu, motherboard and ram to latest standards, it will be considered new by nerd (subject to personal choice of the nerd) :)

4 years ago there was dual core cpu's, ram was ddr400 if it is one of these then it is about as good your going to get at the store unless you pay alot, i would update the video card to one that is direct x 11 enabled unless your tricky enough to do that yourself. it should then do almost anything most "new" computers do.
