Is there anyway my friend can lose his fine he has from a crime he committed when he was 17?
I mean in a completely legal way. He's been paying a fine for neat 4 years and it's really been generally his ability to move on in life and get something better for himself. He was 17 years old when him and a couple of friends got drunk in a small country town and broke into a building they believed was abandoned. They found 100 dollars and took it. So he got a breaking and entering and a burglary felony. He's a good kid and on time with his payments each month at the best of his ability. Is there anyway he can get the rest of the fine dropped. It use to be 4000 some now he has it down to under 2000 just by working at fast food resteraunts. Thank you for your help!

Check with the public defender to see if a deal can be made. Geez, he's only paying $40 a month. If wants to end it, pay more each month.

Get a lawyer and see if he can reopen the case. Lawyers charge a huge amount of money so might just be better to keep paying the way he is. Seems like he is on the right track to get straightened out.

it sounds like your friend got screwed in this deal.if all they did was break in and take $100.00 then i don't see what the $4000.00 is all about.it sounds like his public defender didn't give a crap, which is what happens in most cases.he should go talk to another lawyer, usually the consultation is free and at least see what his options are.unless they went totally nuts and destroyed this building then he got screwed.hope this helps.good luck to your friend.

Most jurisdictions give someone the option of serving time in jail instead of paying the fine.
