Bible belief, may I ask again?

I posed the question, "Bible belief, what makes you so sure?" a few days ago. I began by putting a particular position out and asking Christians what it was that compells them to doggedly follow the Bible? I am asking if it is remotely possible that the Bible could be manufatcured by man, and not divinity intervening?. The Greek Gods were works of man's imagination. The Gods of the Egyptians are also looked back upon with amusement. Confucianism is the work of man. Taoism, Buddhism, Stoicism and Neo-Platonism are similarly the works of man. What makes the Bible unique and the absolute last word on the subject? I am asking for someone to come up with a reasonable and rational answer to my question.

***

Now maybe my question was too complicated or my position too lengthly. Because I received a lot of Dogmatic and belligerent heated responses. I also saw a lot of circular arguments. My point in putting a position out was not to have you argue the validity of the reasoning as much as to lay the groundwork for the question posed. So I ask again, simply as I can. Give it your best shot, I really want to hear it!

***

If you don't have a rational answer you need not get involved. Saying that Jesus is Lord or the Bible is true because it says its true is a cop out. I appreciate and respect faith in ones beliefs, but this is not what I want to hear about. I can get that at Sunday school. Come on! This is your life and eternal soul you are talking about! Take it a little more seriously. I appreciate the feedback.

    Hi!

I can understand your concern because I went through the same thing.I once studied the bible , but all I found was a bunch of unverified stories which confuses the readers. First I saw that there were over 9 versions of the bible, and each of them were different. It said that Jesus was God's son....but then I started thinking that if God is not a human, then how could he have kids. This guy was saying that look, jesus didn't have any father, so his dad must have been God himself! But when I told him that Adam and Eve didn't have any parents either. Does that make them god's children too? Well, all this was so confusing , that I started looking into some other religion to see what they had to say about God etc. Then Bible considers everyone to be sinners, and that God had to send his "son" to get rid of sins. This was strange that God would kill his innocent "son" in order to get rid of evil satan.! it sounded pretty cruel to me.Why would His "son" have to die for other peoples sins, or for satan, who makes people sin? Christianity also calls religious law a curse, and so that if someone follows religious laws ,they are in a curse.

Not too long ago, I bumped into this guy named Yousef Estes. He was a priest, so I told him about my confusions. Then he told me about a book called the Quran. It was the holy book of a religion called Islam. He told me that this book was "really" original. And trust me, when I read it, it didn't seem man made at all. The entire book didn't have a single contradictory statement. Then I later searched on you tube...you may want to check this out too; "Miracles of the Quran by Harun Yahya".If you watch a couple of those videos , you'll be amazed by some of the facts that matches so much with modern science. I mean if a guy wrote that book, he couldn't have known all this stuff more than 1400 years ago. In Islam, everyone is responsible for their own deeds, good or bad. No one dies or suffers for other peoples sins. If someone does something wrong, all he has to do is ask God for forgiveness sincerely, and promise not to do it again. God will certainly forgive him according to his intentions.

At first, I wasn't too sure if this Quran was original coz I thought it was also altered like the bible, but I later went to Turkey. There, I saw the original copy of the Quran, which was written 1400 years ago. It matched exactly with the current one.

Anyway, just check these out.I'm sure it will clear out your confusion.

Obviously there has to be some One up there who made us, created Adam and Eve.

there are so many different beliefs around, one really needs to look deep into a religion to determine if it is authentic.

the maze is to find the right religion that will lead us to heaven. if it weren't so confusing then god wouldn't have created heaven or hell.

anyway i bumped into this faith that made sense to me. it it believes that god sent Judaism through prophet Moses, and Christianity through Jesus, and lastly Islam through Muhammad. it honors all the past religions and it is the only faith that was never changed a bit since the prophet mohammads time.

unlike Christianity which is pretty confusing with so many bibles that has been altered and Judaism that also changes their laws through Rabbis, Islam was never changed , not laws nor the holy Quran. you can actually find the real 1400 years old copy in a museum in Turkey. I don't know much about science thing, but this religion is so full of scientific proofs and it is also a complete way of life.you won't be disappointed if you checked out this religion.

    Good luck and keep searching

Trying to keep up to date with JW teaching just gives me a headache and I don't have that magazine of theirs which you refer to. However, knowing what I do about their 144,000 doctrine, I wonder if the JW person who answered that question might have been referring only to the anointed class (the 144,000). That is because he quotes from Mat 19:28 about those ones sitting on 12 thrones alongside Jesus to judge certain ones. All JWs know that (according to their doctrine) it is only the 144,000 who will be be ruling with Christ in heaven, judging others. They reckon the 12 apostles are part of the 144,000. If that is correct, then he is not saying that all JWs will be born again. Further, as the 144,000 have to be born again and that is a spiritual rebirth (which their literature agrees with), if they are implying that the great crowd of 'other sheep' must also experience a rebirth after the resurrection, they would have to explain where, in the Bible, there is any hint that there are 'two degrees' of the new birth - one spiritual, and the other physical. Mind you, they seem so determined to tell the 'other sheep' that the only difference between them and the anointed is that the latter go to heaven, I wouldn't be surprised if teaching comes out to say the 'other sheep' get a 'sort-of' new birth as well. Remember that the Watchtower Society has been challenged for many decades on their absurd denial of Jesus' words in John 3, that everyone wanting to see the Kingdom of God (let alone enter into it) MUST be born again, from above, by the Holy Spirit. Already they have told the 'other sheep' that 'holy spirit' is available equally to them and the 144,000 according to how much study, door-knocking, and acceptance of Society teaching they work at. If there is a new idea, that all JWs can be regenerated in the next age - after Armageddon and the resurrection - then the JWs have a big problem. How is it that all of the 144,000 are regenerated (born agan) whenever they die physically? Once more, this would betray their 'two degrees'; two levels, two tiers of salvation system. They make the whole thing so complicated it becomes absurd. They are just digging themselves ever deeper into a black hole. Jesus' words are simple and pure. Unless we are all born again by the Holy Spirit adopting us into the family of God, we will never see - let alone enter into - any aspect of the Kingdom of God. If JWs of the 'other sheep' class think they will get the new birth (or, regeneration) after Armageddon and the resurrection, then that is only another carrot being dangled in front of them. Jesus said "If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins." (John 8:24) They do not believe Jesus to be the one He said He was. Nobody who dies in their sins will be regenerated or born again. Hebrews 9:26-28 applies; we die once, and then we face the judgement. It's time JWs woke up to the grave danger they are in.

First of all we can look at the Scriptures themselves, they were written by Divine inspiriration as you said (((Keep Reading))) AND notice how the dating system of this world is entirely based upon the Bible... From around 6000 BC or 4000 BC up untill now 2010 AD, even before the compilation of the Bible, This dating existed.....Even atheist use this dating when they talk

of their false theories of evolution (6 000 000 BC). A carbon dating system which was corrupted by Noah's flood (Water affects Carbon Dating) therefore dramatically exaggerating the dating itself.

Now what sets apart reality from false is that the Prophecies in the Bible themselves have been fulfiled and the last ones are being fulfilled as we speak/type...Those prophecies are the ones that prove the Authenticity of the Holy Bible, that is what pushes me to live by it, with the Help of the Holy Spirit....

Source(s): God Almighty and His Holy Word (King James Bible 1611 Authorised) Science, Religion and this world won't save you, but Jesus Christ Himself will...Accept Jesus and receive freedom from hellfire and sin and go to Heaven when you die or when he returns. You are searching for someone to give you an answer to convince you that the Bible is indeed the word of God but maybe you will not find a worthy answer until you do the research yourself.

If you want to know the answer to your question, start studying the Bible and correlate to historical references. Scholars have studied the history of the eras that the books were written, they have studied the languages of the original text, they have discussed amongst other scholars and compared research. Some support the Bible others oppose it. The truth is, you will believe what you want to believe.

I would not have believed in bible if Jesus was not there. When we look at the history of new testament, we can find that Jesus himself did not pen down a single line nor did he command anyone to do so. Four Apostles of Jesus wrote about him and his life on earth because they felt that it would be helpful for many to know about Jesus. I understand from bible that Jesus had no intention to initiate a new religion, but his intention was to put an end to all religions by attracting people to God and his kingdom. In the beginning, Christianity was a way and not a religion; later it became a religion and then issues started. Now there are many denominations of Christianity which all are man made. Jesus taught of love only and his teachings were to make us good human beings. Now, instead of following his teachings, people are trying to convert others to Christianity.

However, since Jesus is true and his intention was universal love, I accept Bible as my spiritual helper. I can find the true nature of God through Bible. It is a book made by several men over several centuries, but in totality, it looks like a book written by a single person; it is a wonder. Many things mentioned in bible have applicability even in today's life and with bible, a person can easily understand how to lead a clean and moral life.

    With all Christian rhetoric aside...

When the Bible discusses astronomy it is accurate

When the Bible discusses cycles (like of water) it is accurate

When the Bible discusses animal behavior it is accurate

When the Bible discusses the formation of a fetus and DNA it is accurate

When the Bible discusses health measures it is accurate

When the Bible discusses archeology it is accurate

The Bible's standards regarding human relations is still relevant today.

The Bible is filled with hundreds of prophecies (Cyrus was named 200 years in advance) that have been fulfilled and verified by other sources. This gives me confidence that the few remaining prophecies will come true.

If you are curious about the scriptures to which I am referring, just email me and I'll send them along. I assumed you just wanted a quick, logical answer.

I personally believe the Bible was written by men that were filled with the Holy Spirit. And it says in there how to get saved.I experienced that myself. And i don't believe that the EXTREMELY happy feeling i got after getting saved was a fantasy. If you experience something with all your heart , than you know that it's true, right? And also i tried applying some principles written in there in my own life, and they work AMAZINGLY! There are just somethings that believing, ye receive. And one of those is that the Bible is true.

Hope i was of any help to you.

Of course the Bible was created by man. Hell, it wasnt even begun until almost 200 years after the apparent events of Jesus.

Was there a guy named Jesus wondering around the middle east 2000 years ago? Most likely. Was he the sun of God and had the ability to preform miracles? Certainly not.

  • The are certainly no true answers that we can find.

    We are 1.

6,775,235,741 people all as 1 and each of us with our own versions of truth and on every level imaginable.

You will receive answers that are true and some that are false.

The truth is that they are either all true or all false.

It is now known to science that everything we see, hear, taste, touch or smell outside of us is all false.

The people you know are not out there, they are in your head and by our own definitions of insanity we must then conclude that we are all insane. LOL

The Bible doesn't prove the Bible to be correct.

@ Trust in the Lord - "You don't understand" is a cop out answer. Most atheists used to be religious so we do understand, we just don't believe it any more.
