They go and find work.
They find a place to live.
They can take care of themselves
They may do small old jobs to get by in society until they can established a career based on their college education.

If a child grows in a Christian orphanage, he has a secure future. They groom him in such a way that he can maintain himself. Other orphanages mostly create people who will never be accepted by the society. They teach some religion and veda, that cannot fetch him any job.

They then jump on a boat and come to places like Australia and work at your local 7/11 24hour convineience store
