Why did atheists get in the face of christians in Bryan,Texas recently?

It's a sign of the times. It's in vogue to be against anything Christian. The Bible predicted this, in various places of the New Testament (and you know the verses I'm speaking of). Okey-dokey kiddies, now let's have a little history 101 lesson in a little thing called Amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America...Amendment #1: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." So, let's direct our study to where it says that "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". That means that our government can't tell you how, where, when, why, what, and who to worship, and can't make any law that forces you to do so. Period. Next, it says "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". That means our government can't stop you from exercising your freedom to worship whatever you want. In years gone by, our government has slowly eroded away the rights of religious people to pray in certain public places, such as schools. It's gotten to the point where a kid can't even read his/her Bible on his/her own free time in school anymore. My son had a Bible tract ripped up by a teacher & was told to not bring any more back to school. Why? Because another kid wanted to see it & my son handed it to him in sight of the teacher (on the playground). I'm very tired of people telling me to keep my faith quiet. Why? Free speech is a protected right in this country (see the 1st amendment). Why is it okay for everyone else to speak as they please, but those who have a faith have to shut up? We're called intolerant because of our faith & the God we worship...by people who are intolerant of our faith. It's happened to me personally & to others I personally know. The truth of the matter is that no one can truly be tolerant of everything. It's humanly impossible...unless you're dead! It's a guarantee that someone will cross your path that you will find fault with...thus giving way to your own intolerance of their fault...making you intolerant. As for anyone participating in a parade...if it's a public parade, on a public street, then anyone can participate... the KKK, skinheads, Satanists, Wiccans, Hare Krishnas, Boy Scouts, gays, the Loyal Order of Waterbuffalos, Charismatics, Baptists, Catholics and even The UFO Lovers Club. It's still a free country (so far). Enjoy it while it lasts. While it's true that the Winter Solstice happened at the same time of year as what we now know as Christmas, the church wanted to replace the pagan holiday with a Christian holiday, thus we have Christmas. No one really knows when Jesus was actually born, but I don't find anything wrong in celebrating His birth at that time...it's as good as any other. He was actually probably born in October, as the shepherds were out in the fields with their sheep, it being warm enough to do so. Now, let's get back to the business of doing what we were created to do & make our own corner of the world a better place. Merry Christmas! <*)))><

For my part, I have never voted in an election since becoming a Christian. I do understand the dilemma of voters though. Do you vote for the Devil you know, or the Devil you don't know? Most politics is not based on logic, but emotions. Who ever stirs up the most positive emotions and avoids the negative, usually wins. From my point of view, that is a poor way to run anything, let alone a country with millions of lives and families at stake. That is why I have not voted. Or more correctly, DID vote for the one that God appointed as the King of the earth, Jesus Christ. This was both logical and emotional. Only a Perfect person, with the guidance and support of the Ruler of the Universe should be given that responsibility. (Logical side) And the one that has promised the best way of life for the most of mankind (those that want him as their king) is the emotional side. So my choice was not between devils, but for the One that has been appointed to defeat all the devils that have plagued mankind.

First of all, I have to address the catch phrase "separation of church and state." People who use this term are unwittingly letting all of us know that they have been indoctrinated by the public school system and the media and have never actually read the Constitution or studied American history. They are also suffering from the condition of being unable to think critically and independently.

To answer your question, I am dismayed by this behavior on the part of atheists. My favorite uncle and a longtime colleague of mine are atheists. I enjoy warm, friendly, affectionate relationships with both of them, and I often turn to my uncle for advice on various matters. as does my husband. My Christianity has never offended them, and their atheism does not offend me.

As for why they do it, here is your answer: For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.

The atheists participation was inappropriate because it was a Christmas parade, and atheists don't believe in Christmas--that the Son of God came to live among us and show us the truth about God.

If they had an atheist parade, it would not be appropriate for Christians to join in their celebration of a godless, purposeless, mindless, meaningless universe.

The free exercise of religion does not give atheists a right to use a Christian occasion to espouse their faithlessness. Let them have their own parade for meaninglessness.

Blessings to all. Atheists would never hallow a christian no way close to any parade of theirs , so christians should not allow then in our parades neither.

It would appear that just maybe you have got your facts wrong. It seems that they wanted the community to know of their presence and did so by providing a marching band playing "Jingle Bells". It seems that the Christians took umbrage to their presence and felt that they had no part in a Christmas parade. How very Christian. Season of good will and all that.

Maybe you would like to explain why Christians can hijack a pagan holiday and then try to declare a monopoly on it.

What so they are not allowed to march in a community parade now? How is that pushing their beliefs on you. Just marching and having a a sign saying they are atheists, how is that pushing their beliefs on anyone.

Just saying to people we exist, that we are here, we are part of the community that we belong and we have opinions is not pushing our beliefs onto you.

We atheists want religion kept out of government, and forced prayers for everyone. If you chose to pray, fine go for it, but forcing everyone else to pray or have a minutes silence is not right is it?

The only annoying thing about that is the choice of instrument.

Maybe you should ask them. Just because two people are atheists, doesn't mean they necessarily share similar philosophies.

Also, I've never met an atheist who thinks Christians shouldn't be allowed to practice their religion. Atheists, in my experience, tend to value freedom of religion, as it applies to them as much as it does to Christians.

Also, using the courts to silence? I'm sorry that little things like justice get in the way of your worldview.
