Is a 22" HDTV the right size?

For Christmas I am getting a 22" HDTV. My room is small. I will be viewing the TV from an 8' distance. I won't be playing video games. Just watching TV and movies. Thanks for all answers!

22 inches is about the size of a modern computer monitor that you view from only a few feet away. I'd say it's a bit small for 8 feet.

I have a 24 inch set alongside the desk in my office, and for me it's about right for viewing from around 5 to 6 feet.

For a young person with good eyes, the 22-incher might be okay at 8 feet. It's going to be a personal preference in any case.

I agree with kg7or, and also want to add that in my experience, 26 and 32 inch LCD HDTVs generally give you better value for the money (in terms of screen area at least) than 22 inchers.
