So confused and worried.. Please anyone who has dealt with a strange doctor about their bfp please read?
So yesterday I got my BFP.. It was undeniable but I want it confirmed by a doctor and have some questions answered before I announce it. Let me tell you first that I think that I'm 8wks pregnant. I feel ill now, got a half a day light period then in December I never got a negative opk, always + or very close call. So today I called to make a confirmation appointment and she made it for 2/8/11? I'm very upset about this because if I am 8 wks now I will be well into my 2nd trimester won't I? This doesn't seem safe to me.. Is this normal? Should I call back? I'm very worried, this is my first time ever thinking I am pregnant and we want this baby very bad. She treated me like a teenager worried more about having protected sex then a married committed homeowner who is living comfortably and is capable of giving a child a very good life.. sorry its late, I'm very tired and I'm scared, I don't have it in me to worry about proper grammar and spelling tonight.. read through some of my questions and answers if you think I'm an idiot just help stop worry too PLEASE!!!?

I had a very capable doctor with my first baby, but I always got the sense that to the employees of the doctors office, I was just another pregnant woman, and were kind of flippant with me. I felt like nobody communicated well with me and that they just expected me to know what I was doing (I had no idea what I was doing!). What did I learn from this? Be assertive! I do think Feb. is late for a first appt, especially when what you really want is a confirmation that you are pregnant. My doc sees me between 10-12 weeks, and I already think this is pretty late. Anything later than this seems negligent. You always have the option of calling your doc, cancelling your appointment and signing up with another doctor. At the very least I would call and share your concerns with your current doc and insist on being seen sooner. You have that right!

I think thats very late to have a first appointment. You need prenatals and blood work and all kinds of things. My first appointment was the day I hit 6 weeks pregnant. I'd call back and try to get a much earlier appointment, or move on to a different doctor! Congrats on the baby & good luck!!

If you don't like the timing of the appointment find a different doctor and make the appointment.
You can give them a ring back and see if they can make it any sooner but its possible that they are extremely busy. Also you may have heard the appointment date wrong or something. Give them a ring in the morning to make sure.
Congrats on the baby! Good luck
**And don't stress to much over all of this. You want a healthy baby so you have to be as stress free as you possibly can be!

Well I don't know why a doctor would care whether you are a married homeowner or not, a baby is a baby, but the one thing I've learned through the pregnancy/child birth/and pediatrics process is, don't waste your time on a doctor that you're not happy with. If she's already bothering you, switch doctors. And yes, you should be seeing a doctor at least once a month throughout your pregnancy, and once a week once you get closer to your due date.
