There are many ways to save water. I'm on tank water and being summer time here I have to take it easy on water usage. I don't have a shower, only a bath but that uses more water than necessary, so when water is getting short I fill a bucket with warm water and using a jug to wet me down then soap up and rinse off. I only do full loads in the washing machine and reduce the amount of powder by half and only do single rinses. Rinse water can be used to water the garden or pot plants. Some think this is gross but cutting down on the number of times you flush the toilet also saves water. An old country saying is "If it's brown flush it down, if it's yellow let it mellow" . You don't need to flush everytime you pee. If you have a dish washer, use the shortest cycle if the dishes haven't got baked on grease. Don't run the tap while cleaning your teeth. There are a few more ways but hope this helps.

Patj does some of the things we do. Including the commode thing. She knows how to save water.
Washing the pans by hand and putting the rinse water in a pan, and not running the water while rinsing, will save gallons. Then save the rinse water for something else. Putting it in the next wash water will help. Or water something with it.
Running the dishwasher only when full saves.
During the WW11, people put bricks in the commode tanks to save on water.
We buy drinking water.

Depends how much you are willing to spend. Rain water harvesting is the new eco thing that people are starting to switch to. RainTrap is the new, inexpensive underground rainwater storage and delivery system from the market leaders in rainwater harvesting.
The RainTrap will collect rainwater from the roof via the existing guttering and downpipe system on the property. The integral leaf filter will remove unwanted debris washed down from the roof thus ensuring good quality stored water.
A simple on/off switch will operate the integral pump, allowing Raintrap to deliver the stored water under pressure to where it is needed.
The system can be used all year round to water the garden, operate a sprinkler or wash the car.
