What would you name your child if...?

Emmy Jo inspired me to do this in another question I asked, so have fun!

Do a first, or a first and a middle name (The middle can be of the same inspiration or something you think goes well with your first name), for a boy and a girl for each one:

What would you name your child if...

1 - the name had to be derived from a family member?

2 - the name had to be related to one of your favorite sports teams/players?

3 - the name had to be inspired by a holiday?

4 - the name had to be derived from literature?

5 - the name had to be inspired by a movie or tv show?

6 - the name had to be taken from a song or musical artist that you love?

7 - the boy and girl names had to start and end with the same letter (for example: Jackson and Jocelyn)

8 - the name had to be one syllable?

9 - the name had to be related to your favorite place somehow?

10 - the name had to say something about you (either through its meaning or in some other way)?

Have fun!

Update:

You can answer as many as you want, but best answer will be given to someone who answers all.

Yay! I was kind of hoping you'd make one like this.

    1. Family honoring -- Eliza Ruth (from mom Joyce Elizabeth and MIL Ruth Anne) and Edward Bennett (from stepdad James Edward and FIL Ben Wade)

    2. Sports related -- I'm not really a sports fan, but I graduated from Berkeley so I have to root for the Cal Bears. My children would be Calvin Arthur (Arthur means "bear-man") and Livia Oriane (mean "blue" and "gold" -- our school colors!).

    3. Holiday inspired -- Clara Estelle ("bright star") and Frederick Charles (Frederick means "peaceful ruler" = Prince of Peace / Charles means "man" and Christmas celebrates the incarnation of Christ)

    4. Literary -- Rowena Catherine (Rowena from "Ivanhoe" / Catherine from "Persuasion") and Frederick Gawain (Frederick from "Middlemarch" / Gawain from medieval legend)

    5. TV-inspired -- Elliot Adrian (my two favorite TV detectives, from Law and Order SVU and Monk) and Daphne Olivia (from Frasier and Law and Order SVU)

    6. Musical -- Vera Elinor (from two Beatles songs) and Simon Arthur (Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel)

    7. Matching first/last letters -- Gwendolen Joyce and Gideon Jude (I know Gwendolen and Gideon are matchy, but they're huge favorites of mine, so if I were forced to pick matching first/last letters, I may as well use the ones I love)

    8. One syllable -- Jude Clark and Ruth Eve (It's hard to get two one-syllable names to sound good together, but I was really trying to make both my firsts and middles stick to the rules.)

    9. Location-related -- My favorite place in the world is probably Northumberland, so the names I choose are Hadrian Lindsey (after Hadrian's Wall and the Isle of Lindisfarne) and Margaret Deira (after the heroine from a famous border ballad and the 6th century kingdom that occupied part of what is now Northumberland). And you would not believe how long it took me to come up with these names -- especially since I got distracted and started reading on Wikipedia about various border ballads and whatnot. :)

    10. Revealing something about me -- Well, naming my kids after obscure ballads would definitely reveal something about me. But we'll go with literal meanings to make it interesting. Hmmm... Asher Sullivan ("happy" because I'm generally optimistic; "little dark eye" because I have very dark brown eyes) and Dara Amabel ("wisdom or compassion" because people have told me I possess both; "lovable" because I like to feel loved and secure).

    This was so much fun!

    1) Derived from my Grandmother's name Elizabeth - Eliza Barbara (Barbara after my other Grandma)

    2) Not very into sports but my family are keen supporter of Crystal Palace so Christabel Palace

    3) My last big holiday was to Berlin so Berlin James

    4) From English Literature so probably Wuthering Heights with the name Heath (after Heathcliff)

    5) Probably my favourite movie which is Pretty Woman so Vivian Grace

    6) I love the song At Last by Etta James so I would have to use Etta Liron (Liron means song)

    7) I would use Ava Penelope & Abraham Peter because Ava and Abraham are so different

    8) Jay really bad with syllables so hopefully this is right ;)

    9) My favourite place is London my home town is an amazing city so London Scott

    10) Well my name is Victoria so meaning victory so a name with the same meaning so Colette

    I did have fun!

    Interesting question!

    1. Allen James (Brother's middle, and a long-standing family name for boys), Rosemary Grace (the better half's mother and my mother's favorite sister - my adoptive mother was also a Mary, and my biological mother was a Rose.)

    2. I don't have a 'favorite' - but if I had to come up with something based on sports teams . . . gah. Let's see. How about William Cody (get it? Buffalo Bills? Wild Bill . . . It's a stretch) for a boy and Cymbeline Phoenix (Sun god . . . Phoenix . . . Phoenix Suns?) for a girl. Yikes. Let's hope I never actually have to do that.

    3. Boy . . . Nicholas, clearly. Good ol' Saint Nick, right? As for a girl, how about saluting Halloween and a horror-writing great, Edgar Allan Poe with Lenore?

    4. Elijah Rhett (Moby Dick, Gone With the Wind), Adeline Éowyn (Lord Byron, LOTR)

    5. Silas Judah (Weeds), Tabitha Elaine (Bewitched, Seinfeld)

    6. Rosalie Alice (Rosalie McFall - Grateful Dead, and as for Alice - many songs, but thinking of Alice's Restaurant), Maxwell Oliver (Maxwell's Silver Hammer - the Beatles, and Oliver's Army -Elvis Costello.

    7. Oh god, that's hard. Lauren and . . . Landon?

    8. Claire (already use it for my daughter) and Jack

    9. I love the mountains, so I would probably go with Mitchell (a mountain in the Blue Ridge range) and I guess I'd have to choke down Ashley for Asheville.

    10. I think any name you pick for a child says something about you, your tastes, and that sort of thing. My daughter is Claire Abigail - I like simplicity, I avoid trendiness, I appreciate good spelling, and I like things that are classic and tried and true over time. I know it seems like a cop-out answer, but if you put a lot of thought into your kids' names, your personality does really come through. Although if I were to rename myself, I'd pick something a little more . . . feisty. Like Fiona, maybe?
