Sudden weight loss, lightheaded, swollen belly...?
Let me start off by saying I was diagnosed with "fibromyalgia" almost 3 years ago, but it seems that over the last week things have been acting up.
For example, the other day out of the blue, my feet felt like red hot pokers were stabbing my feet. It only lasted a minute or so, but it felt like forever. I have been so dizzy and lightheaded and have just felt "off" and SO tired. Another strange thing is that despite the fact my stomach looks swollen (I just thought I was gaining weight) I have actually dropped 4 lbs since Tuesday night (so not even 2 days). My diet is the same, so I am not sure what is going on. I have a dr. appt. next week but I thought I would see if anyone has experienced this. Anyways, THANKS IN ADVANCE :)

It's called a distended abdomen and it is a Fibro symptom. I'm sure that you didn't even get a pamphlet when you got diagnosed. You gotta read at least one Fibro book to learn ALL the 100+ symptoms. Did you check your ankles for bloating? It could be that too. Fibro docs who don't have Fibro or regularly treat many Fibro patients are not of much help to us. You gotta read up and actually ask Fibro questions on one of 100+ Fibro sites. There are not enough characters for me to fully help you with each symptom that can pop up, but other sites and the book I say to read, you will love it. I am "Deb Fibrogirl" on Facebook and my mission in life to help people with Fibro get better.
The doc will likely give you a diuretic for bloating or ask how you are pooping. You can get bloated if you don't take your fiber too. Fibro is like playing "whack-a-mole" many other things may likely bother you and you have yet to associate them with Fibro as you are still a "newbie" Your foot thing is very common too. It's all Fibro my dear, and the more you learn the better you will get at combating all the crazy symptoms. Today my belly was very big, but I knew it was gas and a gas-x combatted it right down. If it is from water then your ankles will swell by the end of the day when al the water goes down.
The best book is the one I mention below. It will talk about your diet, and all the Rx pills that may help. Your sleep hygeine. And a very special protocol that got me from bed-ridden to remission in 14 months and you are a prime candidate for it since you just got diagnosed 3 years ago.
It Took me 44 docs and the Mayo Clinic and they all missed it! ARG. So I got very sick and finding this 40-year old non-profit group that puts Fibros into remission was a miracle. Please allow me to answer any questions you have about Fibro or how I got better. It's my mission to help.
It's all in my symptom list for Fibro. [link below]
I got Fibro back in 2003. You have to see a Rheumatologist who treats Fibro specifically to get a proper diagnosis. I assume you have also ruled out all the other things like Lupus, MS, etc.
A proper diagnosis includes the doc pushing on specific tender spots on your body and ask you questions like are you double-jointed and do you have a flat-foot gene in your family, etc.
If you have these 11 out of the 18 spots then Fibro is the diagnosis. We have many more spots that I didn't even know I had them until the doc started poking around. My mom and 50-year old sis has it too and I helped them to get better too.
Please read the book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia" by Dr. R. Paul St. Amand and Claudia Mareck. It will change your life.
Also see my story at
and check out the protocol that put me into a remission since 2007

I help people sick with Fibro and help them through the protocol
I am "Deb Fibrogirl" on Facebook.
Please read the book.
You can get the book super cheap on Ebay.
They are a 501(c)3 charity group that has developed this treatment over the past 40 years. But you have to be very sick and really really want to get better. And the sooner you begin the protocol in the book, after onset the faster and easier it will be. You will get done in just a year or less.
Dr. Amand is an endocrinologist who has Fibro as does his wife. He has is now 85 and has been in remission for about 40 years now. As are his first patients. And 90% of all subsequent patients.
The 10% simply quit when the going got tough, many came back though, as they found that it's the only thing out there that is the closet thing to a cure we have.
Many people quit as soon as it gets tough, so a lot of people say that it doesn't work. It does work if you follow the directions in the book to the letter and in 4 months you should begin to have good days, then weeks, then remission. It's a dirt cheap med and there are so many thousands of us out there who have found the protocol and live by it and it saved our lives. It's not a scam, but we have ney-sayers out there who say they tried it. They got sick and quit. The thing they did not do was actually read the dang book and join the online group where all your Fibro questions are answered by people who all have had Fibro for decades. This is where you need to be. In that group. Let me get you there. dkrolls@swbell.net
Please pick up the book and consider emailing me with and Fibro questions. dkrolls@swbell.net
My mission in life is to find Fibros who are prime candidates for this protocol and then I work with them to prepare for it.
I can now run 10-12 miles a day and Fibro is no longer even in my radar. This is not a scam and you are not asked to buy anything except a very safe and inexpensive drug that is safer than aspirin.
Please read my story and list of Fibro symptoms. There are literally 100's of them.

Yes, I have had the fibro diagnosis since age 31 and the foot problems are nothing new to me. It comes and goes for me so I feel your pain hon. As for the dizziness and lightheaded feelings, that is also a part of the fibromyalgia. What worked for me was an entire overhaul of my diet (had to eliminate almost all sodium and caffienated beverages) and I got put on pain meds to deal with the really bad days. I hope you get the chance to see a rheumatologist, as that is the doctor that has helped me the most. What you can do right now is use moist heat packs for your feet, try taking some aleve and try to relax as much as possible. Hope you find some relief soon. Good luck.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

You are lucky to have a doctor appointment next week. A lot of folks on this site have nothing but us, and your symptoms are way over our heads. So good luck next week, and try not to worry too much.
