Why are people so cowardly that they will stand around and watch a person?

being injured or maybe even killed and never to bother to help or call the police. I don't buy the cowardice and saying something might happen to you. I feel that if a person has nothing for which he will die, he/she has nothing really for which to live.

I agree. I think there are a lot of issues behind that. Many just don't have people skills and are shy. Others are afraid to get involved and some are just too selfish. They don't want to be bothered by the aftermath like having to talk to the police. Some are just lazy too and don't want to bother. There are all kinds.

Because unless I know the person, I value my own life and safety over theirs. It may be selfish, but oh well, that's how I feel.

The second part of your argument contains faulty logic. Just because I'm not willing to lay down my life for random strangers doesn't mean that there is NOTHING for which I would die. I'd easily lay down my life to save my family. No hesitation. And I'd die to protect my rights (even though they're no good to me dead).

Good for you. I guess you won't mind loosing everything you own when somebody sues you after they become wheel chair bound because you pulled them out of their burning car. Don't fault me for not wanting to die for some stranger. Go for it.
