feeling overwhelmed about travel plans?
Well, last year I graduated high school and have been working full time trying to save up enough money to go travel around Australia on a working visa. And I'm at the point now where I've got more than enough money to go, but I'm having a hard time cutting the ropes and just doing it. I mean, I've never lived on my own before, and as bad as I want to get out of this little town start living, quitting my job, buying the plane ticket and the prospect of getting there, not knowing a soul and then having to set up a bank account, get a tax number and a job is really starting to overwhelm me.
Anyways, I guess I'd like to hear some advice because right now I feel really stuck, I'm not where I want to be and am having a hard time getting there.

I have not had a working holiday visa, but when I did visit Australia, the company that organized my travel did also organize working holiday starter packs.
They did collect their guests from the airport, find them a hostel for the first 3 nights, help them with the admin side of the visa and get them a call card for cheap phone calls home.
I do not have their name details anymore, and would hesitate to give them after 5 years, but I am sure there are more companies offering this service.
For planning while in OZ, do not do that yet. Expect to work/stay for a few weeks in the city you fly into, and take it from there. You will get advise from people who have done their tour, warnings on where not to go and what times are best for what areas.
You will find that some hostels are mostly filled by people with working holiday visa, those are mines of information.
It can be very useful to ask pointed questions about these practical details in Travel Australia, as there you will find people who have just done or are still doing what you have planned to do.
