Or where do I find the network psw? I'm running xp w/a linksys router.

i think the security type you set on the router is different from the security type on the Nook. example :WEP, WPA2-PSK .ect sometimes the security type would cause the Nook to not be able to connect to the router.
Edit:
But some hints...
If you are having trouble:
1) Use your computer to check the following settings in your router's home page:
Make sure there you turn off MAC-Address restrictions, or enter the nooks mac address from page two of settings.
Make sure that the router is providing DHCP services to its clients. (If your computer is set to obtain an Address automatically, chances are this is already set correctly).
The nook supports 801.11 B and G. NOT N. If your router is locked down to N it will never connect. Unless you have a lot of wireless computers that share files, 801.11N is not going to gain you much (it won't speed up internet access). Set your router to G and N, or maybe just G.
2) The nook (like a lot of low power devices) is sloooow at sniffing out wireless routers.
So don't be in a hurry. Give it a minute or two to scan for routers. Keep it plugged in
while searching for routers, because it seems to shut down the wifi frequently when
in battery power.
3) Lots of routers are easily confused by devices that try to connect repeatedly in a short period of time, and some have hacker prevention that kicks in when many attempts come close together.
You can reset this by pulling the plug on the router for 15 seconds forcing it to reboot.
4) If simply rebooting the router does not help, then select FORGET this router from the nook settings, (and again reboot the router).
Go back to the nook main screen, then re-enter Settings, and select Wifi Hotspot. If your router is still shown as Remembered, FORGET it again and maybe reboot the nook till it does not say "Remembered". Reboot your router while the nook is rebooting.
Wait till the list populates. It can take a couple minutes.
5a) If your router shows up Tap it, and select Connect. It should ask for a password or passphrase. rEmeMbEr iT iS CaSe SeNsiTivE. Tripple check the password it if it fails.
Your nook should connect, and obtain an IP and the wifi symbol should show up at the top.
5b) If your router does not show up in the list of hotspots, you can select the Add Wi-Fi Hotspot entry and manually enter your hotspot info.
(The only reason it wouldn't show up is because your router is set to not broadcast its SSID. Some people do this under the mistaken impression it provides some security. It really doesn't.)
Enter the SSID (case sensitive).
Enter the security type the router was set for.
Enter the Password/Passphrase as above.
The nook supports several wireless security methods:
None (open)
WEP
WPA2 (Soecifically WPA2-PSK, not WPA2-TiKP)
If your router is set for WPA, you will have to move away from that (its deprecated, obsolete). See your router manual. Migrate to WPA2. (If your router is broadcasting its SSID, the nook will already know the security type and it will not be necessary to enter it).
Finally, Remember to slow down. Retrying the same thing over and over again in rapid succession doesn't help, and is as likely to cause problems as fix them.

did you set up your network password or someone else? it's the password for the router. if you use wireless so random people can't tap into your wireless and it is case sensitive.
