I noticed that most people choose "Best Answer" based on what they already believe?

You know most of my questions are taunting but I'm pretty eclectic about giving out BA's

My first criteria is does the answer make me think?

Second - How much thought went into the answer?

And third - Did it make me smile?

Many times I give best answer to the answer that disgusts me the most or has the most thumbs down just so I can get the last word in.

Yes I've noticed and yes I agree. The reason is that many people don't really want advice, they just want confirmation of what they already think.

I've also noticed that even though they know that anyone is free to respond to their question, some people will report you if they don't agree with your answer.

Another one is the childish thumbs down of everyone who answered except themselves by someone answering. How can you take someone seriously who does things that way?

No one comes on here for answers... they come on here for confirmation... or reassurance.

For all the girls that put pictures up saying "am I fat?", do you REALLY think they'll select the answer that says "like a whale, baby." No... they're going to choose "you're skinny and beautiful."

...I believe that's why most people 'conform' on Yahoo! Answers... that girl may weigh a ton, but god dammit, she looks annorexic if it's worth 10 points.

Not only are the askers biased, but the answerers aren't much better. This shouldn't even be Yahoo! Answers, but more like Yahoo! Kiss A$s.

It's true in the QA sections where questions are predominantly opinion oriented. You'll find an entirely different situation in sections such as Math and Science, or Home Repairs, Lawn and Gardent, Pets, Transportation, anywhere people ask questions looking for actual information.

Yeah, but sometimes people do those things and it works, i hate it when a question has like 30 odd answer but no 'best answer'!! lol

because we can't see each other , haven't you heard about this quote : If you don't feel shame , do what ever you want to do .

That's how people decide which advice to take.
