Why is jean Claude Van Damme disrespected.?

His technique in BloodSport was awesome and he was a real kickboxing champion.

Jean Claude Van Damme is afflicted with Bipolar disorder, and he has made some bad decisions off screen. He has been married multiple times, and he got beat up by Hollywood tough guy and Hell's Angel, Chuck Zito. Van Damme's beat'em up films started to lose steam in the late 90s with box office flops like 'Double Team', and 'Universal Soldier: The Return'. Audiences got tired of seeing the same kind of limited range character being repackaged in each film he made.

Van Damme isn't the only casualty of the end of the beat'em up films on the big screen. Steven Seagal lost steam at about the same time as Van Damme. Schwarzenegger and Stallone also got old, and audiences no longer saw them as credible action heroes.

The "technique" in a movie is not something to brag about. Movies are not real life. No one gets hit, no one gets hurt, no one is actually fighting.

The "disrespect" comes from the series of bad movies he had made and his acting is not all that good, so it's not so much his kickboxing that is disrepected as his films and lack of talent.

Listen, I heard about JCVD a long time ago, when he was first getting to be known by the public. One of my instructors knows many famous martial artists. He knows people that know people. When JCVD started to get in the public view, the martial arts community checked out his background. JCVD claimed to have held several championship titles in Asia. The organizations that he said he held these titles under were looked into. Some never existed. The ones that did have never heard of JCVD. Bottom line here is the guy lied about his achievements from the beginning. Besides he is more of a dancer than a martial artist. So these are some of the reasons why I don't respect him.

BY the way...... Disrespected is slang at best. It should have read, "Why is JCVD not respected". Really doesn't anyone know anything about English anymore ?

Because he lied about his fighting record before he got into movies . Oh and by the way Bloodsport is a movie , a half decent martial artist can be made look amazing in a movie .

He will always get my respect, especially after watching his movie "JCVD" in which he turns out a terrific acting performance WITHOUT karate.

Edit: Jean-Claude is BELGIAN not French. Watch "JCVD" and you will be pleasantly surprised at his candid acting performance.

Because Chuck Zito knocked him out at a strip club. Van Dam was drunk , but he never called Chuck out to fight again. He let it ruin his rep.

He may have been a good kickboxer, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a bad actor. The same goes for Steven Segal.
