Buying a chip for my cellphone, how many GB?

so on the side of my phone (cosmo Lg if that helps, i'm so not a technical person) it has an opening for a micro SD. I looked online, do I just buy a regular chip? and how many GB's is good? I want to put music on the phone so..help?

    people usually get a 2 GB chip but if you want to include a lot of music, you should probably get a 4 GB

    My is 2GB and only 20% used. If for video & CD loading.....4 -8 GB.
