Need help with my sons hair!!?

I have a 13 month old son, with a head full of gorgeous curly hair. Now my thing is its got some lenghth to it, but not so much in the back where he rubbed it out a few months ago.. Now, ive wanted to cut it. But no one else including his dad want me to because its so 'pretty'. Im getting tired of braiding it every 3 days and one ponytail everyday has become quite boring. Any mothers have this same problem? I need help and ideas please! This was him 3 months ago, so its even longer now!

Update:

He's black, white, italian and puerto rican like me. So its straight at the root then goes into a crazy spiral curl. Its fine, but very full and silky.

Depending on his hair texture, cutting his hair might end up changing it all together. One of our sons had extremely curly hair, but when he was 2, we shaved it & it never came back curly again :( If i were you, i'd get it professionally cut (scissors only, not a fade!) Hair products might help a lot (if you don't use them already). Gel, spray, anything will do good to keep it all tamed & together. I know that it's extremely exhausting doing it everyday (my nephew is Dominican, Mexican, Italian & White & has the craziest curly hair ever, & my sister refuses to do it correctly, so i have to), so if you truly want it to go, fade it. If not, trimming it would be best.

    Good Luck!

your picture didn't come up??? could be my computer.

he must have alot of hair if you can braid it...my kids were baldies at that age. My son had cute curls...soo cute. I decided to cut it because it was to long around the ears and back. People kept saying...she is so cute...dressed in navy..like a boy! I cut it and....): he looked sooo much older. it made me sorry i did it. Your sons hair seems alot different than mine. IF you are pulling it back everyday then...I say cut it not short but into a style that is managable so he can wear it down.

if you want to cut it you should. from the sound as if you are the one having to deal with his hair everyday and if other people want his hair left long you should tell them thats fine if they want to do his hair from now on.
