Does anyone here still donate to the Red Cross after we found out?

that they are providing first aid kits & training to the Taliban fighters.

If you know someone who is serving overseas or has lost their life to a Taliban fighter. How does it make you feel that the fighter who took your loved ones life could have been saved by the med kits provided by the Red Cross?

Update:

So I can only assume Jack that you do not have a loved one in the service, overseas & never have served yourself. had you , you might have heard or seen what these PEOPLE do to their women, children or others.

Update 2:

I was un aware that so many here support helping the Taliban. I thought that would have ended when they sawed the head off of one of our soldiers while he was still alive. Apparently I'm in the minority for not wanting people who do those type of acts to receive any help. I do not know saving Taliban = good. bit disheartening.

Update 3:

Gunplumb - your not the only one who served here bud. I did 7 years and use to donate to the red cross on a regular basis. I just think the difference between you and I is, I believe that helping the Taliban is bad. I believe that cutting the heads off of living soldiers is bad. you apparently disagree.

Update 4:

Q - I am no christian nor do I practice any religion. It is quite the assumption of you that I am. I also left the republican party in 2007, I am a registered independent. I just think about the families here who had to celebrate this season without their sons or daughters because they captured, tortured and killed by the taliban. The same taliban who apparently has your support and understanding. well not mine. thinking the taliban & those who choose to help them are good never crossed my mind.

Update 5:

Q- If being low means being on the side of our men women and their families who may never see them again then I have no desire to ride on a high horse with you.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering, without any discrimination based on nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.

The often-heard term International Red Cross is actually a misnomer, as no official organization as such exists bearing that name. In reality, the movement consists of several distinct organizations that are legally independent from each other, but are united within the Movement through common basic principles, objectives, symbols, statutes and governing organs. The Movement's parts:

+ The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a private humanitarian institution founded in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland, by Henry Dunant. Its 25-member committee has a unique authority under international humanitarian law to protect the life and dignity of the victims of international and internal armed conflicts. The ICRC was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on three occasions (in 1917, 1944 and 1963).

+ The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) was founded in 1919 and today it coordinates activities between the 186 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies within the Movement. On an international level, the Federation leads and organizes, in close cooperation with the National Societies, relief assistance missions responding to large-scale emergencies. The International Federation Secretariat is based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1963, the Federation (then known as the League of Red Cross Societies) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with the ICRC.

+ National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies exist in nearly every country in the world. Currently 186 National Societies are recognized by the ICRC and admitted as full members of the Federation. Each entity works in its home country according to the principles of international humanitarian law and the statutes of the international Movement. Depending on their specific circumstances and capacities, National Societies can take on additional humanitarian tasks that are not directly defined by international humanitarian law or the mandates of the international Movement. In many countries, they are tightly linked to the respective national health care system by providing emergency medical services.

Personally, I think they are to be commended. Since the Red Cross was founded they have provided medical aid and assistance to ANY person effected by war regardless of the side they are on. They did the same during WW2 when they provided comfort packages to German prisoners as much as to Allied prisoners.

They are doing nothing more now then they have done since founded and after having served along side them (with me as a 31 year military member) I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for their members and the work they do. They were using a pick up truck to go into areas in Afghanistan we wouldn't go into without heavy armour and they do it all armed only with a white armband with a red cross/crescent/crystal on it. Pretty gutsy and pretty committed to their mission.

It has long been agreed upon by all civilized nations that medical personnel are non-combatants and that their oaths as medical professionals means that they must care for human beings regardless of geo-political affiliation. This is enshrined in the Geneva Convention, as well as being supported by religious law such as is in the Bible. The Red Cross, which has as its symbol the cross of Jesus, in part because of Jesus's teachings of turning the other cheek and good will towards all mankind, adheres to this internationally agreed upon morality and provides medical assistance even to our enemies. Fortunately others act with far more morality and dignity than you, the party of torture, murder, and immoral breaking of international treaties of basic human dignity. I'm assuming you're not Christian. Otherwise, it would be the height of irony and bad taste that in the midst of the Christmas season you would act in such an immoral, unchristian way, so against the teachings of Jesus. And don't use the fact that you may have loved ones in combat to explain your lack of morality. That's no excuse, it's just an explanation. Even in World War II, the United States obeyed such rules of morality. Don't expect others to sink to your level.

It looks like the red cross provides medical assistance to PEOPLE. There are people on both sides of any conflict. Thank you Red Cross.

Any Taliban who survives a a bullet or shrapnel from our boys must be protected by God! And if that Taliban goes and takes away life from one of us, that must mean God just wanted to take him from his wordly pain and bring him closer.

Its very noble what Red Cross is doing

I still give my blood and my money. I already gave 25 years in military service so...

    Troll elsewhere.
