Do boxer's tails have to be docked for shows?
just wondering if boxers and other breeds who traditionally have cropped tails like dobermans, rotties, ect. need docked tails in the ring (AKC). also, do dobermans and great danes have to have cropped ears?

Not required by unlikely to place. Not having a docked tail isn't a DQ in any breed that I know of (though some do say it should be severely penalized) however as the standard calls for a docked tail so having an undocked tail would be a fault and all other things being equal a docked dog would be placed ahead of it. Some docked breed's breed clubs have a habit of boycotting judges that put up undocked dogs (Rotties come to mind as doing this)
Danes standard allows for natural or cropped ears. Doberman standard calls for a cropped ear. In the Doberman same as docking not cropping is a fault and unlikely to place. Last I looked less than 5 uncropped Dobermans have ever gotten a championship in the US and they were otherwise very exceptional dogs. Even in dogs that allow for both (Danes, Boxers etc) based on what I have seen all other things being equal most judges will put up a cropped over a natural

as far as tails, all reputable boxer breeders do the tails of all their pups as they must be done in the first three or four days of life, long before you know which are the show prospects and which are not. The ears don't have to be cropped and more and more danes I see are left natural, but I have yet to see a dboe with natural ears in the conformation ring. If you are going to actively compete in conformation shows, the best person to get this advice from is the breeder you are buying the pup from.

Cropping is optional. I show & breed danes. The pup I kept out of my last litter to show is uncropped.
It is harder in some breeds to show uncropped dogs. I have never seen an uncropped Doberman or Boxer in the show ring.
Boxers have to have their tales docked at birth. They don't show them with tails.

Docking and cropping is not an ablsolute but the breed standard states that an undocked tail should be severely penalized (that is a quote from the AKC boxer standard).
It does not list not cropped or docked in the disqualifications. I just googled the breed standard.

Ear cropping is optional, docking is a part of the Breed Standard in Dobermans, Rotts, Boxers.

I believe in the AKC they do. However if it was a dog show in England, I believe they keep everything natural.
