My name is Andrea, I'm 21 years old and I reside on Long Island. I love animals but dogs are my favorite. I lost my last dog Toby back in November to a rare form of bladder cancer but I now have a year old Boxer/Pit mix named Simba. He has taught me a lot about puppies and is my first puppy even though I've had dogs all my life. I hope the advice I give to others is helpful but I am by no means an expert. Don't shop, adopt!

  • Tumblr issues-anyone else?

I'm not sure why, but for the past two weeks, almost everyday around 7-8 EST Tumblr goes completely wonky. Though it doesn't seem to go off on my sister's computer in the next room. My default browser is firefox, but I've also tried accessing tumblr on IE and on my ipad. This is what I get: Server not found

    Why is this happening?

  • Color only really shows on the roots?

Hey guys so I have a question. I dyed my hair a few months back with a demi permanent in a medium auburn tone. My roots were pretty red but it faded gradually as it went down the rest of my hair. I'm not sure why that is exactly. My natural hair is a medium golden brown with a red hue to it. My sister also dyed her hair a demi permanent lighter auburn and only the roots really showed the color we wanted to achieve. Is there a reason why it does that? Her hair color is the same as mine though she has a bit of a blonder hue.

Obviously I don't expect the hair color to change THAT much since it's only a demi but I'm still wondering why only the roots really show the color. Should we leave it on longer last time? They were different brands but the same principal I would assume.

I used: Garnier Herbashine Haircolor in 565 Medium Auburn Brown

My sister used: loreal casting creme gloss in 645 amber

  • How can I gain weight when I'm a vegetarian?

Hey guys. So I've always been naturally skinny as well as my parents we've never really been at the average weight for our height/age. I'm 21 year old female, 5'2 and weigh around 97-100 lbs varying on the day. Obviously this is underweight but I just can't seem to gain any. I'm also a vegetarian, and no I don't eat fish or chicken either. So what are some foods that could possibly help me with gaining weight? I'm not exactly a healthy eater either, I mean sure I'm a vegetarian but I do eat junk food and other fatty foods, I just can't keep any fat in my body.

  • Flyball or agility? Not sure which to go with?

Has anyone done one or both of these with your dogs? I want to get my active dog into one of these sports but I'm not sure which one to start with. I'd like to try both with him, but I could only pay for one class right now as they aren't that cheap. Opinions/pros and cons are welcomed. As well as personal experience stories with these two sports.

If it helps in anyway here's some info on my dog:

    1 1/2 years old

    Pit/boxer mix

Medium in size and around 53 lbs.

Body type is lean yet slightly muscular.

    High prey drive

  • Any particular cats meant for first time owners?

So I've only ever owned dogs my whole life. This may sound like a stupid question but I'm not around cats too much. Are their specific breeds that are better for first time owners? Of course if I were to ever get one, I'd adopt it. Just curious. :)

  • Could I have a bruised bone?

So yesterday, long story short I slammed my kneecap REALLY hard into a door. I wasn't expecting that much pain but I lite really had to fall to the ground because I couldn't stand. I expected for it to hurt for a few hours but it's been a day and it still really hurts. It doesn't look swollen though there was a small bump yesterday and I really don't see any bruising. Is it necessary to go to the doctor or should I wait a few days to see? I'm trying not to walk on it too much and use my right leg to bend and keep my other leg straight as possible when I go down the stairs, if I bend it thats when it hurts. Or touch it.

  • Creating soft waves in hair?

Okay so I have medium length, thick/thin(I have a lot of hair but my hair is thinish to the touch if that makes sense) hair and it just doesn't like to cooperate with me. When I scrunch it with hair gel it will stay wavy for a bit and then fall flat. Is there a better way to do this? :-/ If it helps I use Aussie's spray gel and do this on damp hair. Should I be adding some heavy duty hair spray afterwards?

    My hair when its waved:

  • Chihuahua owners? Need advice?

Okay so I don't plan on getting another dog anytime soon but lately I've been considering getting a Chihuahua at some point. Which is a bit surprising to me since I'm more of a big dog person. I was just curious if some Chihuahua owners could give me the pros and cons of them. Of course I'll be doing research too, but it'd be nice to hear from owners.

  • Slight Pain in my left elbow?

I'm not sure if I slept on it wrong, though I tend to sleep on my arm and usually I'm fine. However yesterday I noticed my elbow/arm was hurting and so was some of my hand. Like it was weaker than it should be. Now my hand is fine but my elbow hurts. What could I have done to it?

  • Was your dog spayed or neutered too early?

If so was their behavior effected by this due to an early spay or neuter? Or any health issues? I found out my dog was neutered at 6 WEEKS of age and thankfully he hasn't seemed to be very effected due to that. What about you guys?

  • Any guesses as to what my boy is?

I always fine these fun to do, was wondering what you guys think my dog is mixed with. I personally see bully/boxer mix in him. And I know ya'll will say husky because of the eyes, but a lot of dogs have blue eyes. :P

Personality: Intelligent, stubborn, goofy, high prey drive.

  • Why are my roots a different color?

So when I was younger I had strawberry blondish brown hair(yeah its kind of hard to describe and I don't know the proper name if there is one). Some of my roots are still that blondish color even though the rest is a medium/dark golden brown. Does anyone know why this happens?

  • Hollow back, I think I have one?

I think I have a hollow back, is this bad posture or just something genetic? My dad has it, my sister has it and so do I. Is there a way to fix it?

  • Hair cut suggestions?

Hey guys! So I think it's time I get a hair cut...but I wanted some suggestions. I have an oval face, blue eyes and medium/dark golden brown hair and I'm rather pale. Not sure if the latter are really important but I figure I'd add them in anyway. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going for. I usually just get the ends trimmed off, I might be willing to go for bangs. So on top of different cuts, what kind of bangs would you suggest?

  • People who own toy/small breeds?

Okay this is not me attacking toy breeds or their owners in any way. I'm just curious and maybe it's because I've owned big/medium sized dogs my whole life but what is it that draws you to the small sizes?

    Also some other questions:

Do you dress up your dogs daily and why or why not?

Do you usually hold your dogs or let them walk?

Do you find harnesses are a lot safer for your small dogs?

Do you allow your dogs to play with larger dogs?

  • What would be a good second dog for my dog I already have?

I don't plan on getting a second dog for a while if ever but I thought it'd be fun to see what you would suggest.

    Some info about my dog:

    LOVES to play

Rough when plays but will back off if the dog tells it to

    Is intelligent

Gets along with both male and females

Can bring out the fun side to an otherwise shy/unsure dog

Boxer/pit mix so a dog that can keep up with how rough he plays is a good idea

53 pounds as of now, and is around the length of a border collie

Can be a bit dominating at first, really is just testing to see where he stands with another dog. He doesn't dominate again if he knows the dog doesn't like it.

    My requirements:

Grooming isn't a big deal for me, I'm willing to learn how to groom a long-haired dog.

Isn't dominating in nature, one some-what dominate dog is enough for me to handle right now. :P

    Isn't a guard dog, I really don't need a guard dog.

Able to keep up with my other dog, but I'd prefer a medium energy dog.

    Is about medium size wise.

Does okay in condo, no backyard.

    Active in the house.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Also: You don't have to say adopt a dog or a mutt, I'm curious about purebreds that would get along with mine. I would probably end up adopting anyway this is just for fun.
