Why can nobody spell "lose"?

You sound as though you're a stickler for correct spelling. I am too! I am also very careful to know my homophones, homonyms, etc. Many people aren't so concerned with spelling though (which personally irritates me, but oh well). There are some intelligent people on this site, but also many, many people who seem unconcerned with portraying any intelligence at all. Their goal is simply to convey a basic idea, and their typos & spelling errors are assumed to be overlooked.

It's not just spelling and grammar that are important. Accurate punctuation is also vital for conveying the correct meaning of a statement. An omitted or misplaced apostrophe can completely change the meaning of a sentence.

Thomas, that's in undemanding words an illustration of the cases. i do not difficulty to nicely suitable spelling and such on persons's posts, yet one I had to nicely suitable changed into using the Latin word "per se." I talked about it written as "per say" and the guy of direction had no theory what they were typing. They were using it like, "enable's say..." I purely had to nicely suitable that one. i changed into doing them a want and all I were given turned right into a thumbs down. @ probablygraham: the misuse of apostrophes to coach possession drives me mad! that's not that difficult to study both. you would possibly want to imagine human beings's experience of delight might want to lead them to envision with someone or a dictionary.

I've noticed that... I have even used the incorrect spelling myself recently (Probably too much exposure to YA). Anyhow, that's the beauty of English... It never stands still and grows to accept the profane as a norm.

I live in Australia and see that far too much! There's also "your" instead of "you're", "there" or "their" instead of "they're" and the list goes on. It just shows how sloppy Teachers are getting, but I guess they can't really teach if their students aren't in school, so I guess both parties are in the wrong. *Sigh*

Another awful one is `dose` for `does`.

i guess its because of the "u" sound in the word..

you know, like in words boots, or boobs, fools, moon...

so they assume it as with double "o".

i had the same problem long time ago.
