I feel oddly attracted to my cat?
Okay, it's not like I want to have sex with him or something, I don't. I just feel like I, I don't know, it's like I love him, like he's my soul mate. It's like we have this connection. He seems to return the feelings. He massages my head, neck & chest. He nuzzles my ears, neck & face & sucks on my ears. He constantly purrs around me. He follows me nearly everywhere & comes to me when I call him like a dog would.
He actually tries his best not to hurt me in any way, such as with biting or scratching even when he wants to do something like take food from me. In the same situation though he would scratch or bite anyone else in my family without hesitation & he rarely listens to them. It's like I look into his eyes & it's like we have some kind of unspoken bond. I don't even see him as a cat when I'm looking into his eyes.
It's like we're just two creatures on this earth. This attraction I feel towards him is not sexual or lustful. Sex never even crosses my mind with him. (I would never hurt an animal in any way, well maybe a human for protection only). It's just that I really feel that I truly love him & not like a pet, like a soul mate.
I know this isn't normal but I just need to know if anyone out there has ever felt something even remotely similar to what I feel for my cat. Please don't tell me how much of a freak I am. I already know that & I don't need to be reminded. Also, if it matters at all, I'm not a guy, I'm a 17 year old girl. This is my cousin's account.
I have two cats & have had more in the past. With him it is just different. I feel something with him, I don't know why & I don't entirely understand it but it is. Plus I'm usually at school when it's their feeding time, so no I don't feed them. My grandmother does but he doesn't treat her nice at all, he seems to enjoy hurting her.

This is a sign of good character of your part! You have true and loving empathy with your pet. You're not delusional, you're self-aware and aware of the world around you. The fact that you recognize this is even better! Despite the naysayers, cats and other animals are sentient creatures and are capable of relationships & communication & yes even empathy. They are not automatons.
Don't mistake this for 'spirituality' or some psychic connection or reincarnation woo. It's just chemicals in our brains, both yours and your cat's.

No, its not crazy. Any animal can be someone you knew in a former life. We have contracts with other souls to fulfill certain destinies, and we transmigrate from life form to life form throughout our lifetimes. It could be that you and this cat were both animals in another lifetime or that he or she was a human in a lifetime with you and then, through some kind of karmic maneuver, became a cat for this time, but still recognizes you and you it. Just enjoy the association and honor it and then, when its over, let it go, like we have to every association of any kind in any life.

I also think he could be the reincarnation of someone you knew in a past life. Or perhaps he really is your "soul mate" if you believe that all living creatures have souls. Nothing wrong with that, as long as the non-sexual thing remains. I think a lot of humans assume they are superior to other animals, which is not true. We all have souls.

He sounds like a normal cat, & you are his human. My cat is the same way, I treat him like my baby, so we have more of a bond than he does with anyone. I love him, he's my bestfriend & I am his. Unfortunantly, I don't know why you feel attracted to him. Sorry I'm not of much help.
