I was raised Christian and i decided to stay when I learned for myself that the words of Christ are life giving words. There is no where else to go....
"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

When I hit bottom, the inconceivability of a morally meaningless world shook me, much as it did Sartre in experiencing the "nausea" of an absurd existence.
Then, as I investigated the claims of Christianity, I found they are based on excellent historical, theological, and scientific evidence. My misunderstandings were often driving my criticism.
I can certainly imagine holding different religious beliefs because I have done so in the past. I have doubted my Christian faith, but my doubts pushed me to seek the truth, and the truth was in Christ.
