1, meaning there are about as many men as women.
However, if you look at ratio by age, you will see that a lot of those women are old people. For people aged 15-64 it is 1.03 men for every 1 woman.

From what I read on the internet is that the single men out number women by a ratio of 12 to 1.

Depends on where you live. Many mining towns are full of men. Many suburbs are full of single mothers.
