Since American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and all of those types shows are so popular....?
...why not have fans of the game actually call-in who they think should be the stars of the week/month?
Also: My brother lives near Vancouver, so he is always buying me Nucks gear. For Christmas, I got a robe, and some pajama shorts, and a t-shirt. I support most of the NHL, so normally I do not mind, but I think I official own more Canucks stuff that their true fans. How do I tell my brother that if he his going to buy me NHL clothing to try to give me a little variety?
I would love to know how your Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years went <---not really a question, but whatever.
"than" their true fans..... (correction) No coffee today, so I somewhat suck...not only that it has been forever since I have asked a question.
Bill, I will not take your statement the wrong way. I understand that you have had some major issues with them. I get it. I tend to not really get too involved in anything. Even with my own family, I lean on the fence & try not to jump on one side or the other. Yes, this makes me a coward, but in the case of my family, it keeps me close to my blood even though they may have done some of the most sinful things known to man. I know, it’s different with people that you do not “really” know, but I have found that not getting involved in things has proved to be rather successful for me. I have always respected your hockey opinion; you have given me some good yucks, so I hope this does not devalue our friendship.

If the Pittsburgh Penguins had a call-in thing for stars of the week / month, Sidney Crosby would be the #1 star every time. Here's the thing: you could be doing better statistically and contributing more to the team, but the player who is the most popular wins almost every time.
Tell your brother straight forward that you want variety. Unless people know what to give, they can easily do something wrong.
My Christmas was alright. We don't have a Boxing Day here in the U.S., but we do have all of the post-Christmas specials. Apart from digestive problems and fatigue, my New Years Day was alright.

The only problem i really see with the idea of fans getting to pick the stars of the game and what not are that many "fans" are uneducated and wouldnt know the true player of the game anyway it would become a big populatity compitition and crosby would win Player of the game even as a healthy scratch..
I would just tell him that you like that he knows you well enough to go with hockey stuff but that you own more nucks gear the the sendins put together...
How was my holliday season? Surprisingly not too shabby i wound up running into the ex at a party about a week before xmas and then fell back into her web.. the good thing is that we stayed broken up for long enough for me to look better (and sense im a giant and have always had really mature features im starting to look pretty good) now i have the upper hand.. i have never been even remotly spoiled by her as a matter of a fact this was the first year that she got me anything for christmas.. also it has become exceedingly easy for me to get what i want. so im gunna ride this gravey train till the wheels fall off.. pretty much this whole holiday season i have spent my free time drinking with her.... that being said i havent used a vacation day in a month and half and im starting to get really stressed out! need a break!!! how were your hollidays?

I had female company last night, and as I'm want to do, I got up to pour another scotch (MacAllan 18-year if you're asking) and found out that the end of the CAN-USA WJC game/TOR-BOS game I had on had been replaced by...I s**t you not...The Bachelor. That my head did not explode is no small miracle (note to self- next time take the f**king remote with me when I get a refill).
So on that note of utter disturbia (one of the women had fangs, and I'm not sure what's worse- that I know that one of these trollops had fangs or that she actually had them (excuse me while I go throw up)) I'm thinking that a selected fan gets either a rose or a cold beer to give to the willing player of the game.
I was going to make a snide and frankly crass remark about people from Vancouver all being hooked on heroin, but today I won't, plus it is your brother so there's that. Just a quiet note saying "next time...Stamkos Tampa home sweater would be much appreciated".
Spent the holidays working to catch up on stuff since the year-end financials had to be done. I don't really have family in a true sense and my nephew/niece have a mother who I have no desire to be within 5km of. Drop off gifts a week prior and be done with it. The WJC tournament provided Boxing Day and NYE entertainment.

Wow I totally did not understand the question until I read the answers. So as slow as you feel, always remember, you're faster than me. For the question, but then all the grinders and "little guys who do the big things" who never get any attention, that they deserve, would be overlooked for the big stars who had a mediocre game. Leave it the way it is :)
Christmas was pure awesome. Got a Lidstrom jersey and spent it with my favorite people. New Years Eve I worked the midnight shift, but it was with the best, manager, yeah, manager, ever. Hope yours was good too :)
Oh, and just flat out tell your brother that the only Canucks gift you want from him anymore is Swedish twins, or he can branch out to different teams.

Isn't it funny how four of those type of shows are on at the same time on Tuesday nights? I gave up on all of them except Biggest Loser. That show fascinates me.
I am not a fan of popularity contests for actual hockey skill. I'm tired of seeing Crosby as it is. He, however, would at least deserve it. Like the All Star starters, not all of them would.
If my brother gave me a gift from a team that wasn't the one that I support i would put it on the top shelf of the closet and I'd probably pound on my him even though he at least doubles my weight.. Fortunately, he lives nearby and he likes the Wings, too. He gives me cool gifts like autographs and tickets.
I agree with the others. You gotta TELL him. He, apparently thinks it's funny, eh?
My Christmas/New Years were fine. The best part was, my boss gave me the 26th of December off. I work retail so I cannot tell you what a gift that really was. It also meant we got to stay later at our daughter's house and be with her and her family.

@ Bill, you are sooooooooo much in love with me it's scary, you're still going on about me? What's it been, a year since I last talked to you.,Sounds familiar but I guess I have that effect on people...people just want my attention for some reason, I know I rule, trust me I know but to go on and on about me? My ego can't take it!!
Now, onto the love thing...Sorry, I'm taken..I'd invite you to the wedding but I'm afraid during the "Whoever objects to this, speak now or forever hold your peace" that you'd jump up and lunge at me in a desperate way of trying to change my mind.Sorry Bill, won't happen..
Onto the question, life is short, get out of the house, see a shrink and move on...My Christmas was spectacular!! Life couldn't be better.
** I also wanted to thank you Haley for getting all of the regulars together for a nice frolic on the beach..it was great seeing San, Amy B, Copas Nips, Tuna, CME, Bob Loblaw,Erica, Vik, Rosie, Jenni, Lubers and the rest of the gang dancing by the camp fire talking about the great time of Yahoo answers.Sorry to those who weren't invited..Maybe next year.

No frickin' way. Habs and Penguin fans would rig it so their players would always be selected stars.
You should just buy your brother Lightning gear, throw in some Lightning panties and maybe he'll get the hint.
Christmas, etc. was good, was with family for the week so all I did was goof off and eat

It may turn out that way in our lifetimes since the fans get to vote on who plays the ASG so why not a category next to writers' polls and selections by NHL peers?
As for your brother, just tell him. Direct is best in this life and I have confidence that you'll handle it diplomatically. He'll understand.
My holidays went great. I was able to celebrate with those that matter most in my life and whom I love the most. To do so clean and to have them know I'm clean is something I am truly grateful for. I hope yours was as satisfying.
Don't take this part the wrong way, but I hope your absence is due to being responsible as I think you are instead of wasting your time with back-stabbers like Joe B and morally bankrupt cretins like Loblaw. If anyone associates with unsavory characters like them, it means they support them and are as guilty by to association.

Sidney Crosby would win every week!
The Habs already are doing this for "Stars of the Game" and it has made something that is a joke into an even bigger joke.
Christmas was amazing, the boys are growing like weeds and skipped walking and went straight to running......skates for Xmas next year for them.
