Why do Christians ignore parts of the bible and put complete trust in others?
I've had Christians tell me that everyone should follow what the bible says. This includes stoning to death non-virgin girls in front of their fathers houses.
Oh really? How should I "understand" that? That's not even a metaphor.

I'm with Pastors George and Sharon; clearly you don't know how to properly selectively read the infallible word of God.

We don't "ignore" parts of the bible...it's just that the Mosaic Law...such as stoning...was a Jewish law meant only for the Jews....it doesn't apply to Christians. To understand these old scriptures it would also be a good idea to read the Talmud which explains them...the Talmud tells us that a sanhadrian that carried out one death sentence in 70 years was considered "bloody." The Mosaic Law was meant to show us that God is Righteous...that we can not obtain righteousness on our own and that Christ provides that righteousness through his work on Calvary. What was JESUS message to the woman taken in adultery...he didn't stone her...he said go...AND SIN NO MORE.

We accept what is based on the teaching that God is love as we are instructed to do and ignore statements that are not found in the principle of love.
Many people, religions and cultures have gone through the Bible and tried to make it say what they wanted to believe but miraculously it is still a love story. Christians really need to stop making excuses for the Bible. It only makes them sound like the fools they are. We have nothing to hide if we are honest.

I think christians tend to look at the bible as a rule book. So when they see rules that do not make sense or they think aren't practical they just ignore them. The Bible is not a rule book of right and wrong to follow. So I think they are just confused and use it to push their agenda.

Hypocrisy and bigotry. "Christians" which tend to be un-Christ-like use parts of the Bible to condemn minorities like gays and then ignore the parts that don't suit them.
Brother Trucker apparently believes that discriminating against gays is in the spirit of love.

We wonder when you will realize how to understand scripture is not the way you are going about it.
